Fabio Turchi versus Nikolajs Grisunins breakdown.

I expect this fight to be competitive early on and then Turchi to take over late because of his power.

Nikolasjs Grisunins was a good amateur and has decent technical skills but to me it looks like he left his best years behind in the amateurs.

Fabio Turchi is in his prime and should be improved after going 10 hard rounds with Tommy McCarthy. I think he has more power than Grisunins and that should be telling later in the fight as Grisunins starts to get tired.

I think Fabio Turchi will win a hard fought decision over 10 rounds.

Lester Martinez versus Michi Munoz breakdown

This isn’t a hard fight to breakdown because its a developmental fight for Martinez who was a very good amateur. Michi Munoz is at this stage of his career a journeyman who may be able to take prospects a few rounds before getting stopped.

Lester Martinez is an aggressive fighter at this stage of his career which is a bad omen for Munoz who isn’t very durable anymore.

I think Lester Martinez will win by knockout within the first three rounds because of his amateur background and power.

Jai Opetaia versus Benjamin Kelleher 2 breakdown

This shouldn’t be a competitive fight though it is between two of the best Cruiserweights in Australia. Jai Opetaia looks to be a very promising prospect in the division while Kelleher is more of a domestic fighter in the Australian scene.

This is a rematch of a fight that took place two years ago where Opetaia won by stoppage in the third round. I don’t think Kelleher has improved since then while Opetaia has been growing as a fighter. I can’t see a different result happening even though Kelleher has bounced back well from the loss.

Benjamin Kelleher

I think Jai Opetaia wins the rematch because hes the technically better fighter who also punches harder. Another point is that hes already stopped Kelleher and I don’t see why he wouldn’t do it again.

Faiga Opelu versus Justis Huni breakdown

This is a really good fight for Justis Huni considering he is only just making his debut. Justis Huni was a good amateur who is still looking to compete in the 2021 Olympics even after turning pro. Faiga Opelu is a solid domestic heavyweight in Australia and holds a record of 13-1-1 with 10 knockouts so will be a real test too see if Huni is ready for the professional game.

Justis Huni has good movement and can box both on the back foot and front foot. He doesn’t sit down on his punches that much but thats too be expected of a amateur turning pro. He throws in combination well and has a solid jab that would be more effective if he doubled it up. He keeps his hands low and relies on his reflexes and an adapted Philly shell type of defence.

Faiga Opelu has some power though perhaps a little less than his record suggests. He generally throws in combination when he does punch. He doesn’t jab that often which isn’t great considering hes on the short side for being a heavyweight. His defence isn’t anything to write home about but he does use head movement and will occasionally move off on an angle to avoid the counter punches of his opponents. He’s not quite as fast as Huni and doesn’t have his reaction speed in my opinion.

Faiga Opelu

I think Justis Huni will win a decision though may have to work hard towards the end because hes never been past three rounds. He is the more well schooled boxer who has faster hands and reaction speed which should see him through to a victory. Opelu does have a lot of experience and if he can make it a little rough on the inside he could take over late if Huni runs out of stamina.

Roman Gonzalez versus Israel Gonzalez breakdown

The all time great Roman Gonzalez returns in what for him is a bit of a tune up. Israel Gonzalez is a solid fighter at Super Flyweight but isn’t elite like Roman Gonzalez is.

Roman “Chocolatitio” Gonzalez is one of the best combination and inside fighters in boxing right now. While people were concerned that he was well past his prime he proved in his last fight that he still has enough left to beat lesser opponents who aren’t elite.

Israel Gonzalez is a solid contender at Super Flyweight but is really outclassed in almost every department in this fight apart from size.

Israel Gonzalez

I expect Roman Gonzalez to win this fight by knockout in the 7th or 8th round due to being a better all round fighter who hasn’t slipped enough for someone like Israel Gonzalez to beat them.

Juan Francisco Estrada versus Carlos Cuadras breakdown.

This is a quality fight and for me at least an interesting rematch. In their first fight Estrada won by one point but many felt Cuadras did enough to win.

Juan Francisco Estrada is one of the best fighters in the sport right now but has been inactive due to an injury. While their first fight was very close I think this one will crown a clear winner due to the changed dynamics of the fight. I believe that Estrada is still in his prime while Cuadras is on the slide a bit as evidenced by his recent performances. Not much separated them before but with Cuadras on the way out I think Estrada has a big advantage.

Carlos Cuadras

I’m predicting Estrada to win a decision due to still being in their prime as other than that nothing really separates the two.

Julio Cesar Martinez versus Moises Calleros breakdown

This is a decent fight considering Calleros is a late replacement after the original opponent Maximino Flores tested positive for the Corona Virus.

Julio Cesar Martinez is a gifted explosive fighter who is very aggressive. He pushes his opponents back with bursts of offence and then takes their punches back on his gloves. He certainly has defensive flaws and a great boxer/mover may be able to take advantage of his footwork but Calleros isn’t any of them.

Moises Calleros is a decent boxer-puncher but doesn’t have the power or explosiveness that Martinez does. He has a limited defence and especially struggles with people that use angles such as Ryuya Yamanaka who stopped him in eight rounds. He has a decent chin at minimum weight but with him jumping up two weight classes i’m not sure he’ll deal with Martinez’s power. He also doesn’t keep his hands up to catch combinations which will be a be a detriment to him in a fight with Martinez who is an extremely good combination puncher.

Moises Calleros

I think Julio Cesar Martinez will win this fight by knockout within the first six rounds due to his superior power and combination punching.

Jay Harris versus Marcel Braithwaite breakdown

This should be a fun but largely noncompetitive ten rounder which is perhaps a metaphor for the whole sport in general.

Jay Harris had a thrilling fight with WBC world champion Julio Cesar Martinez in his last outing and while he ended up losing a close decision he proved that he was a world class operator. I expect him to build on his last performance and really show Braithwaite that there are levels to boxing. Braithwaite is a fighter in the domestic scene that when all’s said and done will be known for giving it a go but ultimately losing every big fight. There’s no shame in that and many boxers make a career out of it whether domestic operators or fringe world contenders who pad the records of new champions.

I think Harris will win a points decision after ten rounds

Edgar Berlanga versus Lanell Bellows breakdown

This is a relatively easy breakdown due to the nature of the two fighters. Edgar Berlanga is a massive puncher and hasn’t been stretched out the first round yet in any of his 14 fights. Lanell Bellows has been dropped multiple times but has heart and will get back up a few times. I’ve watched Bellows get dropped by people who aren’t big punchers like Berlanga so I think its an uphill battle for him here.

I think Berlanga will win by knockout in the third or fourth round.
