Souleymane Cissokho versus Daniel Echeverria breakdown

This isn’t a good fight and I find it worrying that Cissokho is still fighting this level of competition when hes 29 and 11-0. He’s a 2016 Olympian with a long amateur background so I really don’t understand why hes fighting journeymen opponents at this stage of his career still. Daniel Echeverria is the fighter you bring in to test your prospect in their first step up not a guy you give to an Olympian who’s already beaten better or equivalent fighters. To make matters worse Echeverria is being made to come up to Super Welterweight for this fight. If Cissokho was fighting every three months then this wouldn’t be as bad but hes been very inactive and needs to speed up if he wants to get a title shot at this point.

I think Souleymane Cissokho will win by knockout within six rounds due to being better all round.

Raymond Ford versus Aaron Perez breakdown

This is an excellent test for Ford who is a fighter i’m relatively high on. He’s 8-0 and in his recent fights seems to be really adapting to the pro game well. He’s shown power, speed and a willingness to try and end fights early which is what you want too see.

Aaron Perez is a good fighter who’s 10-0 but isn’t quite as technically good or as fast as Ford is. I think he can put up a good effort and does have a chance at causing the upset due to his amateur background where he was fairly successful.

Aaron Perez

I think Raymond Ford will win a decision after eight rounds due to being quicker and having the better technical skills.

Austin Williams versus Denis Douglin breakdown

This is an excellent step up for Williams and also a risky fight for him in my opinion. Denis Douglin has fought a lot of good fighters and while hes mostly been on the losing end hes pushed some good fighters close and Williams has never fought near the level that Douglin has.

Denis Douglin

I do think Austin Williams will manage to win a decision but Douglin will make it awkward as hes experienced and if Williams isn’t careful he’ll run out of rounds and lose. I think his aggression and power should be enough to get him a win on the cards though.

Jessica McCaskill versus Cecilia Braekhus 2 breakdown

This is the rematch of the first fight which was very competitive.

Jessica McCaskill

I personally see this going much the same way as the first fight but with a different result. I think McCaskill will walk forward and throw a lot of punches while Braekhus fights off the back foot and lands the cleaner shots. I think Braekhus will win this time because shes had time to rest and will be sharper for this fight as last time she had been training in altitude for months before the fight. Braekhus will win a decision after ten rounds.

Hiroto Kyoguchi versus Axel Aragon Vega breakdown

This isn’t a bad fight but its one that Kyoguchi should win comfortably. Hiroto Kyoguchi is arguably the best fighter at Light Flyweight and has put together a nice run of form between two divisions while Vega is undersized for the weight class though is world level at the weight below.

Axel Aragon Vega

I think Hiroto Kyoguchi will simply be to big and to strong for Vega who is almost comically small and can only really be effective at minimum weight. Kyoguchi is also technically better and his uppercuts combined with his body work should earn him a knockout.

Juan Francisco Estrada versus Roman Gonzalez breakdown

This is an amazing fight and one i’m looking forward to greatly. Both of these fighters will be in the hall of fame after they retire though Estrada may need one or two more wins to cement his place.

Juan Francisco Estrada is a puncher who lands big counters on the back foot but has no problem getting into exchanges on the front foot. His defence looked a little shaky in his last fight but hes still very much an elite fighter.

Roman Gonzalez is probably the best offensive fighter of the last two decades as he puts his combinations together so smoothly its like a form of art. He’s a big puncher himself though doesn’t quite have the one punch power of Estrada in my opinion as especially as hes gone up in weight hes stopped people through a relentless volume of punches at a high pace. At 33 his legs may not be there as much as they used to be but hes still an elite fighter.

I really can see this fight going either way though if I had to make a pick I would go with Estrada as I think he may catch Gonzalez hard a few times in the fight which could turn things around. Any result wouldn’t surprise me though.

Ali Eren Demirezen versus Jacek Krzysztof Piatek breakdown

This is a weird fight as while on paper its a fight between a 13-1 and 11-0 guy in reality it’s a fight between a former Olympian and a fighter who’s 47 years old. Demirezen is a capable fighter who was competitive and went the distance with Ajagba while Piatek hasn’t fought anyone of note and at 47 clearly shouldn’t be boxing at this level.

Jacek Krzysztof Piatek

I think Ali Eren Demirezen will win this fight by stoppage due to being younger and having the better amateur background which has led him to having the better skill set. Piatek getting to 11-0 at his age is impressive though.

Viktor Vykhryst versus Wilmer Vasquez breakdown

This isn’t a bad fight for Vykhryst as hes only 5-0 while his opponent Vasquez is 11-0-2. Vykhryst was a very good amateur who has only recently turned pro and has looked good so far. He’s got power, technical skills and is clearly in his prime. Interestingly Vasquez competed in the 2004 Olympics and has been pro since 2006. He’s never really made much progression and at this point of his career is inactive and judging by the weigh in a bit out of shape. I don’t think hes in his prime anymore either.

Wilmer Vasquez

I think Viktor Vykhryst will handle this step up fairly comfortably and win by knockout due to his technical 1-2 punching and power which he has shown in every fight so far.

Ebanie Bridges versus Carol Earl breakdown

I wouldn’t normally cover this low level of a fight but Bridges is supposed to be fighting for a world title next and I thought the premise of this fight is too funny to not write about. Ebanie Bridges has fought no one of note but has gained a large online following by taking risqué photo’s and posting them on twitter. In contrast her opponent is a 45 year old nun who is 3-3-1 and hasn’t fought for over a year. I don’t think you could get much more of a contrast of people if you tried and its a thing which could only happen in boxing.

Carol Earl

In all seriousness Ebanie Bridges should win this fight because Earl hasn’t fought for over a year and is 45. I’d love for the nun to pull off the upset though as it would make a great story and also would be extremely funny.

Cherneka Johnson versus Shannon O’Connell breakdown

This is a good evenly matched fight in my opinion. Cherneka Johnson is taking the first big step up of her career after performing well versus all the opponents she has faced so far. Shannon O’Connell is continuing the long and successful career shes had.

Cherneka Johnson

I think this is a battle between Johnson who is the fresher fighter and O’Connell who has huge amounts of experience but may not be in the prime of her career anymore. I think O’Connell likely has the power advantage and has fought recently so won’t have any rust. I personally feel she’ll be able to do enough to win a competitive decision after ten rounds but because of the closeness of the fight a Johnson win wouldn’t surprise me that much.
