Seigo Yuri Akui versus Taku Kuwahara breakdown

This is a good fight at flyweight for the Japanese Flyweight title over ten rounds. Akui is making his second defence while Kuwahara is taking his first shot at a professional title. Akui has decent power and fundamentals but has been stopped twice in hard fights versus Junto Nakatani and Jaysever Abcede. Kuwahara isn’t a big puncher but is technically good and so far in his career is undefeated.

I personally think Kuwahara will be able to win a decision after ten rounds due to being the better technical boxer however if Akui overwhelms him late due to his experience I wouldn’t be surprised.

Joe Joyce versus Carlos Takam breakdown

This is a good fight in the heavyweight division between contender Joe Joyce and fringe contender Carlos Takam. Joe Joyce has a great jab and clearly possesses good power. He’s a big guy and like his nickname the juggernaut suggests he never stops punching or slows down even if his punches are a little slow compared to others. Carlos Takam is 40 now and doesn’t have the gas tank he used to as in recent fights I’ve noticed he slows down after six rounds. He’s physically strong but is the much smaller man in this match up and doesn’t have the power to knock Joyce out.

Carlos Takam

I think Joe Joyce will stop Carlos Takam around the tenth round due to him being bigger and having a great jab which should slow Takam down until Joyce can let his hands go and stop him. Takam doesn’t have the stamina anymore to outlast Joyce and he’ll be outworked for much of the fight especially towards the end.

Murat Gassiev versus Michael Wallisch breakdown

This is a solid second fight for Gassiev at heavyweight as Wallisch is a fringe European level fighter and has fought quite a few notable heavyweights though has lost to most of them. Murat Gassiev is a former unified world champion at Cruiserweight and after an inactive two years is finally getting back into the sport. Wallisch is 35 and doesn’t have good punch resistance or great skills honestly. I don’t think he can punch as hard as Gassiev can either even though hes the more natural heavyweight.

Michael Wallisch

I think Murat Gassiev will win by knockout within six rounds due to being more powerful and his good body punching.

Amilcar Vidal versus Immanuwel Aleem breakdown

This is a great step up fight for Vidal and a good opportunity for Aleem who desperately needs a big win to revitalize his career. Vidal is 12-0 with 11 knockouts and is a big puncher as his record suggests. Aleem is a decent puncher himself but isn’t quite as much of a power puncher in my opinion. Vidal can also box well but his main focus is knocking people out.

Immanuwel Aleem

I think Vidal will likely overwhelm Aleem early due to his power and Aleem’s long lay off from the ring. I’ve seen Aleem stopped by a lesser puncher and coming into the ring rusty isn’t advisable versus fighters who can really punch.

Serhii Bohachuk returns to the ring after suffering first defeat.

Bohachuk recently lost a fight to Brandon Adams in what was a good fight. He was ahead at the time of the stoppage but got caught by some big punches and couldn’t recover. Bohachuk himself is a big puncher and is clearly motivated as hes back in the ring only 4 months after his knockout loss. His opponent Brandon Baue is a journeyman but thats to be expected for a fighter coming off a loss.

I expect Bohachuk to win by knockout and then progress on to bigger fights for his career.

Ryad Merhy versus Zhaoxin Zhang breakdown

This is a decent fight though Zhang is coming in on short notice after Merhy’s original opponent pulled out. Merhy is 29-1 with 24 knockouts while Zhang is 10-1 with six knockouts.

Ryad Merhy isn’t the most active puncher and from what i’ve watched waits a lot for his opponents to punch so he can counter with powerful shots. He does seem to have some power especially with the overhand right. He throws out a lot of jabs but none are especially effective in my opinion. His defence consists of him holding a high guard when hes not punching but he still gets hit a decent amount. This is clearly a tactic to try and get his opponents to punch so he can counter.

Zhang is an entertaining fighter who throws a decent amount of punches and is willing to get into exchanges with anyone. He’s not a massive puncher but is still willing to take one to give one. His hands are very low especially when hes punching which means its not hard to counter or catch him.

I expect Ryad Merhy to win by knockout within three or four rounds due to landing consistently with counters until he lands a combination big enough to stop the tough Zhang.

Rolando Romero versus Anthony Yigit breakdown

This is a decent fight though Yigit is coming in on short notice and hasn’t fought for over two years. He also came overweight for this fight and was thinking about retiring earlier this year.

Without going deep into this I personally think Romero is going to knock Yigit out in six or seven rounds due to being properly prepared. Romero is also a big puncher and I don’t think Yigit can keep him off for twelve rounds.

Dave Apolinario versus Charlie Malupangue breakdown

This is a solid fight between rising prospect Apolinario who is 14-0 with nine knockouts and Malupangue who is 9-4-3 with six knockouts.

Dave Apolinario is a prospect i’m fairly high on in the flyweight division due to his age and how good he is already. He’s only 22 but has already built up a solid record of 14 and shown good skills. He’s creative offensively especially with his lead hand which in his case is his right hand. He uses the jab frequently and for a variety of different purposes including setting his punches up, finding his range, damaging jabs and jabs to bait his opponents into countering so he can counter back. He’s willing to get into exchanges if he has an advantage such as when he’s backed his opponents onto the ropes or they are off balance but otherwise has a fairly solid defence. When he pulls out of range he circles out instead of going back in a straight line which is impressive as thats a mistake a lot of fighters make. He has a good lead right hand and counters well with the right hand especially considering hes a southpaw. He’s got reasonable power behind his punches but nothing destructive.

Malupangue is also a southpaw but is very much a take one to give one fighter. He’s fairly tough but is the smaller man in this match up and also doesn’t possess the skill of Apolinario.

I think Malupangue will struggle to get past Apolinario’s jab and will get picked apart at range before being swarmed and stopped on the ropes in the fifth or sixth round. I expect Apolinario to win by knockout and progress onward in his ascent to the top of the flyweight division.

Melvin Jerusalem versus Toto Landero 2 breakdown

This is a decent fight at minimumweight though one we already saw not that long ago. Jerusalem won the first fight in 2018 by decision in a competitive fight but one that was a clear win for him. I don’t think Landero has gotten better since and considering Jerusalem is on the verge of a world title fight hes going to be very motivated for this fight.

Toto Landero

I think Melvin Jerusalem will win by decision after a competitive fight due to being better technically and also being physically stronger.

Juergen Uldedaj versus Dmytro Serguta breakdown

This is a decent fight which I think Uldedaj should look good in. Uldedaj is a good technical boxer who doesn’t have much power but is still young at 23 so may develop it later on. Serguta is a big puncher but lost widely when he stepped up in competition.

I expect Uldedaj to win a decision after ten rounds due to being technically better and having more options to win other than a one punch KO from nowhere like Serguta has.
