Eduard Troyanovsky versus Renald Garrido breakdown

This is a good test to see how much Troyanovsky has left in the tank at the age of 40 and after a decently long career. Renald Garrido is a journeyman but he always comes to fight and is much better than his 25-27-3 record suggests.

Eduard Troyanovsky is decent fundamentally but can’t really fight on the inside. Hes got a decent jab and good power though he hasn’t really showed his power recently. His footwork gets him in trouble as he takes unnecessary punches because hes in the wrong position after throwing a punch. He is 40 now and past his prime so at any point he could slip up and really is only one fight away from retirement.

Renald Garrido is a very tough man who swarms forward and is willing to take one to land one. His defence is decent though not great. He doesn’t have a lot of power but does wear people down through his never ending pressure. He throws a lot of punches and doesn’t really slow down.

Renald Garrido

I think Renald Garrido will win this fight in an upset because of his volume and Troyanovsky potentially being slightly on the slide. I think Troyanovsky will struggle to keep Garrido off him and will end up losing a decision.

Reiya Abe versus Ren Sasaki breakdown

This is a really good domestic clash between two Japanese fighters who need a decisive win soon.

I think both do all things decently though Abe has proven he has a really good chin. I don’t think there is a huge difference between them however Abe is more experienced.

I think because they are so evenly matched that the fight will end in a draw though I can see Abe winning by close decision if I had to pick one.

Why the Daniel Dubois-Joe Joyce fight not being PPV is great for boxing.

Like many people I thought the Dubois versus Joyce fight would end up on PPV due to the amount of interest in the match up. I personally thought it would be better off PPV but also understood the reasoning if it had been put behind a pay wall.

The good thing about it not being on PPV of course is that a lot more people will watch it and start to follow boxing and the two headliners themselves. This will benefit all of the boxers later in their careers where they might go on to PPV or in selling more tickets and generating more interest.

Its a great thing for the sport of boxing itself in the UK because it means the British public will finally get a big fight they can watch without having to pay extra for it. A lot of people who are fans of the sport now started from watching boxing on free television years ago and while this isn’t on Channel 5 it will still bring in lots of new people to the sport.

Frank Warren and everyone involved should be given a lot of credit for not taking advantage of the hardcore fans who would have payed for this PPV and instead putting it on live on BT Sport where the nation can watch.

Ievgen Khytrov versus Vaughn Alexander breakdown

This should be a solid fight and a good test for Khytrov too see if he can start to climb back towards the top of the super middleweight division.

Ievgen Khytrov was a good amateur so does everything fundamentally well. He has a decent jab and throws in combination for the most part. I don’t believe his defence is particularly solid but its not bad. He puts a large focus on going to the body.

Vaughn Alexander has decent power but doesn’t throw many punches at all. His defence isn’t great but he has a very good chin.

Vaughn Alexander

I think as long as Khytrov doesn’t get clipped by one big punch he should be able to win a decision due to his volume of punches.

David Lemieux versus Francy Ntetu breakdown

This is another fight that shouldn’t be very competitive and is a tune up bout for David Lemieux.

David Lemieux is a big puncher and is facing Ntetu who has been knocked out in all three of his losses. He also has no power to trouble Lemieux so this should be an easy fight for the hard hitting Canadian before moving on to bigger things.

I think David Lemieux will win by knockout in three or four rounds.

Arslanbek Makhmudov versus Dillon Carman breakdown

Makhmudov is one of the best prospects in the heavyweight division and has huge power.

This isn’t a particularly hard breakdown because Makhmudov is a massive puncher and Carman has been knocked out four times.

I think Makhmudov will win by knockout within the first two rounds.

Nathan Gorman versus Richard Lartey breakdown

This is a solid come back fight for Nathan Gorman and one he could probably lose.

Nathan Gorman is the better technical boxer and has more skills but probably doesn’t have the one punch KO power of Lartey. He normally has decent defensive skills and can go 10 rounds without any problems. He turned up in bad shape for this fight however and clearly hasn’t taken it very seriously.

Richard Lartey is a decent puncher and is willing to get into exchanges but beyond that isn’t all that good.

Richard Lartey

Even with the extra weight I think Gorman will have enough to beat Lartey who himself has come in heavy.

Liam Williams versus Andrew Robinson breakdown

This would be a good domestic match up but I believe Liam Williams is a world class fighter at this point and will soon be challenging for world titles.

Liam Williams is an insanely aggressive fighter that puts on great pressure and clearly has good power. His defence is surprisingly solid considering how offensive minded he is and while he can be caught coming in no ones really done it yet.

Andrew Robinson is a solid domestic campaigner who recently sprung a big upset in Poland versus a fighter that was 41-0. His defence isn’t great and he doesn’t have that much power.

Andrew Robinson

I think Liam Williams wins this fight by knockout in six rounds because he has a lot more power and at this point is a world level fighter while Robinson is domestic level.

Lorenzo Simpson versus Sanny Duversonne breakdown

This is a bit of a step up fight for Lorenzo Simpson but I still feel he should win this fight relatively comfortably because he was a much better amateur that seems to have taken well to the pro game. He has good power and Sanny Duversonne hasn’t faced anyone good yet so I expect him to be out of his depth in this fight.

I think Lorenzo Simpson will win this fight by decision because of his superior technical skills and power.

Zhanibek Alimkhanuly versus Gonzalo Gaston Coria breakdown

This is a good match up in the middleweight division between two underrated fighters.

Zhanibek was a good amateur and has made a solid start to his pro career. He has decent power and is very good fundamentally. He’s very precise and accurate with his punches. He’s not the most active fighter in the world but he does put out a good amount of punches a round. His defence is solid as well though its largely based on his foot work.

From the footage I can find Gonzalo Gaston Coria is also decent technically though not on the level of Zhanibek. He has more power than his record suggests though nothing that should trouble the Kazak. He has lost a few decisions to people that are not on Zhanibek’s level and he is clearly being brought in to lose here.

Gonzalo Gaston Coria

I think Zhanibek will win this fight by stoppage in the second half of the fight due to his superior amateur background and the fact hes really starting to adapt well to the pro game.
