After making a list of five good trilogy’s yesterday I thought about how many trilogy’s could be completed this year and realised their aren’t that many high profile ones. Trilogy’s add so much to a boxers legacy and always get my interest as a fan and I personally think the sport needs them to help build it up.
The first and most obvious trilogy that can be made this year is Golovkin versus Canelo. Their two first fights were highly competitive bouts with controversial scoring which sets up a third fight perfectly. The score currently is 1 to Canelo and a draw but most fans either feel Golovkin won both or that they are 1-1. A third fight would help get a clear winner though because of the controversy of the previous fights and Golovkin getting older its likely people will never agree on who is the better fighter at middleweight. Its still one of the biggest fights in boxing and would add to both of their legacy’s win, lose or draw.
The second trilogy which could potentially be made but is unlikely is Anthony Joshua versus Andy Ruiz Jr. Their first fight was a fight that boxing will never forget and no one can ever take being a world champion away from Ruiz, he also set his family up for life. However the reason that the trilogy won’t happen is because no one really wants to see it. If the second fight had been competitive and Ruiz hadn’t turned up out of shape then there might be more people calling for a trilogy. Joshua is also stuck fighting mandatorys for his next two fights and then after that will be looking at bigger fish in the division than Ruiz.
The third trilogy is the one that is most likely to happen and that is Wilder versus Fury. This is another of the biggest fights in boxing and also one thats already been agreed upon. We will likely see it in the summer if they can limit the spread of the Corona Virus. After their second fight being noncompetitive with Fury bashing Wilder all over the ring i’m not sure how interested people will be in the third one. I would still of course watch and the build up would be entertaining but I personally feel that Fury has won twice now and I don’t see Wilder doing much better in the trilogy.
The fourth trilogy that could be made this year is Jermell Charlo versus Tony Harrison. Both of their fights have been relatively entertaining especially the second one. The build up will be great and will attract a lot of people to watch it. All great fighters need rivals and this has the potential to be a fun one. I think this has a decent chance at happening as its the second biggest fight for Charlo in the division in my opinion and he isn’t likely to get the unification he wants because Rosario has a mandatory to deal with. Out of the four I’ve listed so far this is the one that I want to see most tied with Canelo v GGG 3.
The fifth trilogy would be between Leo Santa Cruz and Carl Frampton. They had two entertaining fights but for whatever reason never fought a third time even though they are 1-1. Both are getting to the latter stages of their careers especially Frampton so there isn’t long left to make the fight. I doubt it happens because Leo is rumored to be fighting Gervonta Davis and Frampton is supposed to be fighting Jamel Herring. Both of those are hard fights where they will enter as underdogs so the only way I can see it happening is if both lose and they choose to have another hard fight immediately.
The sixth trilogy is one that not many are asking for and thats between Luke Campbell and Yvan Mendy. Campbell was knocked down and upset by Mendy in their first fight before avenging the defeat in a rematch a few years later. Mendy is a good fighter and could beat Campbell again or it could go the other way and that is why I would like too see this fight. It’s also very realistic as Campbell is fighting for the vacant WBC lightweight title and if he wins that his mandatory is Mendy.
The last trilogy that could be made is Juan Francisco Estrada versus Rungvisai. This is an incredible match up and could go either way and fans would be entertained. It’s also 1-1 and the second fight was weird with Rungvisai choosing to fight orthodox for most of the fight before switching back to southpaw and winning the remaining rounds. If he boxes southpaw from the beginning then he has a very good chance to win. Hopefully this fight happens soon however there are so many good match ups in the Super Fly division that I wouldn’t be mad if this didn’t take place.
Thats my list of potential trilogy’s that could happen this year and while its likely only two or three will happen thats still more than most years especially trilogy’s at the highest level in the sport. I enjoyed writing this and I think I will be doing more of this type of content in the future.
I thought i’d make a small list of some entertaining trilogy’s that people can watch while almost all live boxing is cancelled. A lot of these fights people would have seen but they are good enough to watch again and again.
Starting off at 5 is the most obvious one and thats the Gatti versus Ward fights. These were three brutal fights where both fighters showed heart and grit to make it to the end. If your a fan of tear ups then this is the one for you.
At number four is the Pacquiao versus Marquez fights of which there are four. This list is really for trilogy’s or more and this is one of the classic’s. These two had one of the best rivalries in the sport and all four fights were entertaining and very competitive. It also has one of the defining boxing moments of the last decade occur during it.
At number 3 is the Pacquiao versus Erik Morales fights which were very entertaining and Morales is a great fighter to watch. I personally think the first fight is one that all boxing fans should watch at some point especially the 12th round.
Number 2 is Muhammed Ali versus Joe Frazier. This is an amazing trilogy and also very important historically not only in boxing. Every boxing fan should watch this trilogy at some point and this is the perfect time to catch up.
The final trilogy to watch is Erik Morales versus Marco Antonio Barrera. This trilogy consists of three competitive fights fought at a high level and a good pace throughout. It also takes place between two of my favorite fighters so it makes it even better.
These trilogy’s aren’t in any order of how good they are its just a list before I get people arguing over which ones better. I hope you all enjoy these fights and stay safe while the Corona Virus is happening. Hopefully by late summer it will be completely over and we can get back to normal life.
William Warburton one of the UK’s best journeymen retired on January 30th 2020 after picking up his 27th win out of 201 contests. His final record stands at 27-164-10 and in those 164 losses he was only stopped three times. Warburton was a familiar sight on the small halls and gave prospects a test week after week. He is a lot better than his record suggests but due to the business of boxing had to lose to prospects that he could have likely beat otherwise he wouldn’t have got more fights.
Warburton is a credit to the sport and fulfilled his role in boxing perfectly, very tough and durable and if a prospect wasn’t on their game he could turn it on and get the win as he did in his 201st bout. He decided to retire with a win and it does seem like perfect timing after reaching 200 fights in his previous bout.
Canelo versus Billy Joe Saunders may potentially be cancelled as the state athletic commission in Las Vegas has banned all sporting events indefinitely. They will of course lift this suspension once the Corona Virus has settled down but it means that Canelo versus Saunders can’t be announced until the ban is lifted. Its very likely that it now won’t happen on the 2nd of May and will be rescheduled for a few months later.
This of course frustrating for the boxers and everyone involved but it is in the best interests of the fans. Having over 10,000 people gather would be like inviting the virus to spread among them and cause more stress on hospitals.
I imagine that if they don’t fight on May 2nd then they will likely fight a few months later or perhaps cancel the fight altogether as Canelo was expected to fight Golovkin for the third time later in the year. Its incredible how much the Corona virus is effecting everything and Canelo versus Saunders is just the latest casualty in the sporting world where everything is being shut down.
A few days ago this weekend looked like it would have quite a few boxing cards but as of today only one of the major cards in the USA is still occurring and even that is behind closed doors. Two Top Rank cards were expected to occur with no fans in attendance but just a few hours after that announcement were post-poned all together. Cards all over the world are currently being put on hold as the threat of the Corona Virus continues to grow and countries take measures to stop it.
The UK is one of the only countries where almost every single boxing event is still on and aren’t expected to cancel unless the government makes them do so. I know the promoters would lose money and so would the boxers but it is in the best interests of the country if these large events were cancelled until later in the year. Its been proven that the faster you put social distancing into place the faster the cases of the virus start to slow down and the peak can be controlled thus allowing the health services to function properly without being overwhelmed like Italy currently is.
I wouldn’t normally get political but I feel this is a complete failure from the government to actually try and stop the spread and make sure our health service which is already strained doesn’t collapse. You would think if they looked at China and saw that they put social distancing into place and within two months the amount of new Corona Virus cases is decreasing massively especially for a populated region like China and especially Wuhan where the Virus started. They say we are four weeks behind Italy but if we know we are four weeks behind them then why don’t we take them as an example and put measures in place quicker than they did so we don’t get to their stage of the outbreak that fast?. They also say they are following the science which seems to be completely different to what the rest of the world is doing and it makes me question what type of scientists these are. It seems like they are more in the human behavior field and how people would react to quarantine rather than scientists that know how Virus’s spread and how to combat them.
I hope next week that the UK follows the rest of the world and cancels their boxing cards as well as starts taking the Virus a bit more seriously as it could save many lives.
I’m going to keep this very short as cards are being cancelled left right and center. Like I said on a previous post I think this is the correct decision but obviously its hard for me to do a preview when the majority of the cards are either cancelled or may be cancelled.
The one event I do know is still going on is Shakur Stevenson versus Miguel Marriaga for Shakurs WBO featherweight title. Marriaga has been an opponent for every top guy that Top Rank wants to promote and while hes a good fighter I don’t see him beating Stevenson. I predict Stevenson by wide decision or late stoppage.
Elsewhere on that Card Edgar Berlanga and Jessie Magdaleno also return in bouts they should win.
Michael Conlan looks like he will still fight as well versus Belmar Preciado which was a pointless fight in the first place so i’m surprised they haven’t cancelled that. Conlan will win by decision.
The only other card of note is one where rising prospect Brandun Lee fights Camilo Prieto in a good step up fight that I expect him to win by knockout.
As always I hope you enjoy the boxing and that all the fighters stay safe and I will likely still post something next thursday as long as not everything gets cancelled. I hope anyone who reads this stays safe as well and I would recommend not attending any large events you were going to go too.
More boxing shows from around the world are being cancelled due to the spread of the Corona Virus. Two events taking place in Spain were cancelled today which add to the growing list of shows that have had to be post-poned recently. Japan annouced a few weeks ago that all boxing shows were to be called off until at least April and with how the Virus seems to be spreading I can see that ban lasting longer.
Italy has also cancelled all shows due to the severity of the outbreak in the country where as of this time they are the second most affected country behind of course China. I expect in the next few weeks that more shows will be cancelled including big ones in the UK.
I personally agree with these shows being cancelled/rescheduled and I hope that cards in England like Dubois v Joyce also get cancelled because its not worth the risk of helping the virus spread and letting it last longer. The problem with boxing events is that people will travel from all over to get there and if a few people get infected they will then bring the Virus back to their towns and help it spread. I understand many people won’t be happy that these events are being rescheduled but its in the best interests of the country if they are. I have tickets to Dubois V Joyce but if the cases continue to grow over the next month then I will consider not going because I don’t want to help it spread.
A lot of people are saying that its like A Flu so why wouldn’t you go and while I agree that if I caught it I’d be fine as i’m healthy and young the problem I have is I don’t want to pass it on too any older people that are especially at risk from it. I think most people feel the same that they aren’t particularly scared for themselves (don’t get me wrong I still don’t want it) but they are worried about passing the virus on to vulnerable people that they know.
Hopefully the Corona Virus will die down in the coming months and everyone’s lives can go back to normal especially in the worst effected countries like Italy and China where I especially hope that the spread can be slowed down.
It has come out today that WBO middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade will be facing Liam Williams as his mandatory challenger sometime in the summer. This is surprising as Jaime Munguia is the mandatory as he was the champion at the weight below and moved up. I presume what happened is that Munguia’s team told the WBO that they didn’t want to be ordered to fight Andrade and so the WBO went to the next highest contender which is Liam Williams. I personally think this is fair as Williams versus Atlantez Fox was supposed to be a final eliminator but the WBO changed their minds about it a few days before the fight.
Demetrius Andrade
I like this fight a lot as I personally think Williams will be the best opponent Andrade has fought at middleweight so far and it should test both fighters. The only worry I have for this fight is that Andrade goes into complete safety first mode and tries to earn a decision which could lead to a boring fight which would be a shame as Williams is normally a very exciting fighter.
Outside of the other champions I think this is the best fight that Andrade can realistically be in and I also think Williams is the most deserving of a title shot right now. A lot of the division have lost recently and haven’t had a comeback fight and others are already scheduled to fight each other. A Jermall Charlo fight isn’t going to happen as he will fight either James Kirkland or Chris Eubank Jr next in my opinion. Golovkin is fighting Kamil Szeremeta next whenever they finally get around to announcing it.
I’ve seen some negative reaction to this announcement but I think thats because they don’t know how good Williams is and that this is an excellent fight. I’m personally very much looking forward to it as I like Williams as a fighter and i’m excited too see him get his opportunity to become world champion.
I think this is an interesting topic as it helps us appreciate the modern greats who are still active now and as a boxing fan its a fun topic to discuss. I think a lot of people in the boxing media like to downplay how good active boxers are and perhaps look with rose tinted glasses at the previous greats that have now retired. I’ve found that fighters don’t get the credit they deserve until they retire and I think a big part of this is that while they are active people will try and push agenda’s on whether they are good or not depending on what promotional outfit they are fighting for. I think we have quite a few boxers that can compete with the old guard of legendary fighters but it is perhaps hard to know until they finish their careers and we can compare them.
Terence Crawford
The first fighter that will be in the hall of fame once he retires is Terence Crawford. He’s a three weight world champion and was undisputed at Super lightweight which in of itself is enough to get into the Hall of Fame. Beating Ricky Burns in Scotland for his first world title is also a good achievement and then defending that title versus an undefeated Yuriorkis Gamboa is even better. Gamboa is a gold medalist in the Olympics and Burns is also a three weight world champion. His next two fights were versus notable names in Raymundo Beltran and Thomas Dulorme which add to his resume and also conclude what is in my opinion one of the best periods of his career in terms of good opponents especially back to back. Beltran would later go on to win a lightweight world title while Dulorme has stayed a top contender at both super lightweight and now Welterweight. In beating Dulorme Crawford became a two weight world champion as that fight was for the vacant WBO Super lightweight title.
He then went on a great run at Super lightweight beating Henry Lundy, Viktor Postol, John Molina Jr and Julius Indongo. His fight with Viktor Postol was a unification and his fight with Indongo was for all the super lightweight belts and made him undisputed a feat only achieved by him and Usyk in the four belt era. Having cleared up at super lightweight he moved up to Welterweight and beat Jeff Horn the WBO champion who had actually beat Manny Pacquiao somewhat controversially for the title. He has then gone on to beat Jose Benavidez Jr, Amir Khan and most recently Egidijus Kavaliauskas. His run so far at welterweight has been somewhat underwhelming however it is worth noting that Khan is a former champion at super lightweight who has fought multiple big names in his career and Kavaliauskas is a two time Olympian.
A lot of people critisise his resume saying he hasn’t fought anyone but I don’t agree with that as while he doesn’t have a big standout name his resume actually has a lot of depth to it. With him being a three weight world champion and also undisputed in one combined with wins over Gamboa, Postol, Burns and Indongo he will be inducted into the hall of fame when he retires.
Canelo Alvarez
The next fighter who I think will get into the Hall of Fame is Canelo Alvarez. Canelo is a three division champion and has a resume full of great names all at the age of 29. I’m going to list all of the notable names and it’ll be very obvious hes a lock for the hall of fame. Carlos Baldomir, Matthew Hatton, Shane Mosley, Josesito Lopez, Austin Trout, Floyd Mayweather Jr, Alfredo Angulo, Erislandy Lara, James Kirkland, Miguel Cotto(Cottos brother as well), Amir Khan, Liam Smith, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, Gennadiy Golovkin twice, Daniel Jacobs and Sergey Kovalev. All of those names by the age of 29 is an incredible feat and will surely get him into the hall of fame. Another reason he has guaranteed himself a spot is because he went up to Light heavyweight after defending at middleweight and beat Kovalev who himself will likely be inducted into the hall of fame.
While a few of his victories are controversial I don’t think you’ll find many fans that would disagree that Canelo deserves to be in the hall of fame when he retires as he really is a special fighter who has an incredible resume.
Manny Pacquiao
The next fighter who i’m sure will get into the hall of fame is the most obvious one in Manny Pacquiao. He isn’t just a hall of famer but also an all time great who will be remembered as one of the best to ever do it. He has been fighting at the top level for over two decades and has the best resume of any active fighter. He is a stunning 8 division champion who even in his 40’s is beating long reigning champions like Keith Thurman. I’m not going to list all of the great names on his resume as my keyboard may break before i’m finished but a few notable fighters he has faced are Marco Antonio Barrera X2, Juan Manuel Marquez X4, Erik Morales X3, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto, Shane Mosley, Timothy Bradley Jr X3, Floyd Mayweather Jr and Keith Thurman.
Manny Pacquiao is the fighter that I am most certain will get into the hall of fame when he eventually decides to retire whenever that is as people have been saying he will retire soon for the last 7 or 8 years. I really am in awe as to just how good of a fighter he is and how much hes achieved in the sport and i’m just glad that I’ve been able to watch him fight live even if its on TV.
Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez
Another fighter that i’m certain will get into the hall of fame is Roman Gonzalez better known as Chocolatito. He is a four division champion who dominated and KO’d most of his opponents. The way he puts his punches together when at mid and short distance is incredible and great to watch. He did a lot for getting the lower weight classes recognised in the USA but he was fighting at the top level long before he was discovered in America.
Just a few of the names he has beat are Juan Francisco Estrada, Carlos Cuadros and Khalid Yafai. The Yafai victory further cemented his place in the hall of fame as he was considered done by a lot of people and then to go and put on a vintage performance and KO Yafai is incredible. If you haven’t watched him yet go back and do it as hes a joy to watch and has some amazing fights. I don’t know how much longer he will go on for but i’m very happy to watch the last part of his historic career in the coming years and i’m also glad at how much recognition he gets from boxing fans.
Those are the four fighters who I am sure will get into the hall of fame but I also want to mention others that have a good chance to get in but might not be first ballot. When I was thinking about fighters who have a chance of getting in I realised that theres actually quite a few that I can see getting in now if they retire.
Gennadiy Golovkin
The first one of these fighters is Gennadiy Golovkin who I feel will most likely get in but i’m not as sure as the four fighters above. Golovkin made 20 defences of his middleweight titles and also unified the division which is most likely enough to get him into the hall of fame. If you then count his silver medal at the 2004 Olympics as well as all his other amateur achievements then it would seem remarkable if he didn’t get in. He has also beaten notable names in Daniel Jacobs, Sergiy Derevyanchenko, Kell Brook and David Lemieux. He has a controversial draw with Canelo Alvarez where most people felt he won and his only loss to Canelo in the second fight was also one where many felt he won. I imagine he will get credit for having two fights with Canelo one being a draw and that people will remember that he was robbed of a career best win.
He was also openly ducked in his prime which people may take into account when considering if he should get into the hall of fame or not. I think he will get in and deserves it but some people may hold him only being a champion in one weight class against him though I personally wouldn’t as I value clearing out a division higher than skipping from alphabet title to alphabet title.
Vasiliy Lomachenko
The next fighter who I think will likely get in is Vasiliy Lomachenko a three weight world champion who has achieved so much in so little fights. He is a two time Olympic gold medalist and is likely one of the best amateur boxers to ever live. He then turned pro and fought for a world title in only his second fight where he lost by split decision after his opponent came in overweight and spent the fight hitting him with low blows. He bounced back in his third fight to win a title at featherweight and the rest is history.
The way he creates angles and his style of fighting is extremely unique, he is one of the best technical boxers on the planet and could easily get into the hall of fame just based off that. However he can also boast an impressive resume with names such as Jorge Linares, Gary Russell Jr, Nicholas Walters, Guillermo Rigondeaux as well as a host of other good names. I personally feel with the way hes dominated the vast majority of his opponents at the highest level that he will get a deserved spot in the hall of fame especially considering hes done it all in 15 pro fights.
Tyson Fury
The next fighter I could see getting in is Tyson Fury after his win over Deontay Wilder. I’m not sure that he currently deserves to get in but I can understand why he would get voted in. Hes stopped the long reigns of both Wladimir Klitschko and Deontay Wilder and has shaped the current course of the heavyweight division. I have two problems with him getting into the hall of fame currently one being that his resume lacks depth and the other being that he hasn’t defended the titles hes won yet.
If he beats Wilder again and actually defends his titles then I think he should get in but right now I think putting him into the hall of fame when Dereck Chisora is likely his third best win isn’t the right option. Also the only reason hes being considered is because hes a heavyweight and they are held to a lesser standard than the other weight classes.
Oleksandr Usyk
Another fighter in the bigger weight classes that I think will get in to the hall of fame is Oleksandr Usyk. He was the undisputed cruiserweight champion and actually defended his undisputed title once. In 16 pro fights he ran through one of the most stacked divisions in boxing and beat every champion in their home country. He beat Krzysztof Glowacki, Thabiso Mchunu, Michael Hunter, Marco Huck, Mairis Bredis, Murat Gassiev and Tony Bellew with most of those wins coming on the road. This is an incredible achievement and also makes him one of the best cruiserweights of all time which you would think would get him into the hall of fame.
The only reason I can see for people not voting him in is because the cruiserweight division has been one that has historically not been very popular in America. This is only a problem because most of the people who can vote people into the hall of fame are American and may choose other fighters because they have personally seen them fight live.
Leo Santa Cruz
A fighter that i’m not sure will get in to the hall of fame is Leo Santa Cruz as hes had a strange career. Hes a four division champ but doesn’t have the resume of one and outside of Carl Frampton, Kiko Martinez and Abner Mares doesn’t really have any notable names on his resume. Hes a good fighter but often has workman like performances which don’t endear him to fans or make him stand out from other boxers. I’m divided on this one as he arguably should get into the hall of fame considering hes a four division champ and he has a few good names on his resume. At the same time his resume is extremely weak for being a four division champ and the fourth title is questionable because he fought for the vacant WBA title when the WBA should have upgraded their regular champion.
I still think he’ll likely get in because there are very few boxers who become champions in four divisions and they’d have to find three people better than him consistently every year he gets nominated.
Naoya Inoue
The last active fighter who I think will likely get into the hall of fame is Japan’s Naoya Inoue. Hes a massive puncher who is also a three division champ and has a very good resume for only having 19 fights. One of his most impressive victories was when he went up two divisions and KO’d Omar Andres Narvaez in two rounds to win his second world title. He defended that title numerous times before moving up to Bantamweight. Since moving up hes beaten Juan Carlos Payano and Jamie McDonnell before winning his third world title versus Emmanuel Rodriguez and then unifying with the legend Nonito Donaire in 2019’s fight of the year. Talking about Donaire he will very likely be inducted into the hall of fame as well though hopefully the voters understand that fighters can lose and still be great. Inoue is going to now fight John Riel Casimero in another hard fight to unify the division again and further cement his legacy.
I personally feel that he would get in now but I understand like a few other names on this list that the lower weight classes have to do more to be recognised so he may need to become undisputed at bantamweight to guarantee himself a spot in the hall of fame.
I enjoyed writing this piece and I hope you enjoyed reading it even if it is one of my longer pieces of work. When I was writing this I realised just how many great fighters we have currently boxing and it made me appreciate them all a bit more as I delved deeper into their resumes and achievements. Boxing can create legends and legacy’s like no other sport, over its long illustrious history we have witnessed true greats fight for our entertainment and I think all of the fighters above are part of that legacy.
This weekend was supposed to be an easy fight for Kownacki where he’d get another decent name on his resume in front of his rabid fans before preparing for a bigger fight later in the year. He looked like he was a lock for getting a title shot within the next 12 months and with his big fan base he was now a main event fighter. Unfortunately for him The Nordic Nightmare channeled his ancestors in his ring walk and in his last real chance to get back to title contention landed the punch to change his career. Robert Helenius was once a highly regarded prospect before injuries derailed his career and everyone including me wrote him off and thought Kownacki would walk through him. We disregarded his power and I think most importantly we disregarded his will to win. Every time an upset happens I tell myself i’m going to stop underestimating fighters but a couple weeks later I go right back to doing it again and I think most combat sport fans have the same problem.
Triangle theories don’t work in boxing and thats why we need to see everyone fight each other as it makes for entertaining fights and also helps carve out a legacy for both the fighters and the era they are in if all of the top fighters consistently fight each other. We never really know if someone will beat someone else until they actually prove it in the ring and Saturday night Helenius proved that and also proved everyone wrong that doubted him.
Helenius was clearly very focused for this fight and unlike some of his previous fights was able to have a full training camp which combined with Kownacki’s lack of defence was perhaps something we should have picked up on. Helenius completely changed his career path and also how his career will be viewed by getting the win on Saturday. Hes now the WBA mandatory which means if he can hold onto the spot he will get a massive pay day and also a title shot. What I mean by changing how his career is viewed is that if he had lost last night most fans looking back would have seen him as a guy that always lost when he stepped up and was just a stepping stone for fighters in this era. With this win people will remember the time he stopped Kownacki at the Barclays Center as a massive underdog and hes now made his mark on this era of the heavyweight division.
When Helenius won I actually jumped out of my seat because I was so surprised and also happy because it was so unexpected and one of my favourite things in boxing is where a massive underdog wins. I’m glad Helenius got a perhaps career defining win as he seems like a nice guy and has had some bad luck with injurys in the past.
Kownacki will be back but he needs to improve his defense if he wants to be more than a fun TV fighter. Theres nothing wrong with being that but I imagine his goal is still to be world champion and without a better defence I don’t see that happening.
As people always say one punch can change everything in the heavyweight division but at the same time I think it’s Helenius’s 20 years of dedication to the sport that changed that fight and a small part of the heavyweight landscape.
