Georgi Chelokhsaev versus Yauheni Dauhaliavets breakdown

This should be a competitive fight between two rising contenders in the Super Lightweight division. Georgi Chelokhsaev has recovered well after an early setback and is only one or two fights away from breaking into the world scene. Yauheni Dauhaliavets turned pro this year after an extensive amateur career and has made short work of the journeymen hes faced so far.

Georgi Chelokhsaev has a decent jab though it doesn’t seem to have a lot of power behind it. I think hes quite wild and is willing to get into exchanges where both fighters forget about defence and just swing for the hills. He seems to have some power and has either hurt or knocked out a lot of his competition. I don’t think hes great technically and his defence isn’t good in my opinion especially when he goes on the offensive. He is a combination puncher and rarely throws single punches from what I’ve seen.

Yauheni Dauhaliavets was a very good amateur who had an aggressive come forward style even over three rounds. He has a good damaging jab when he chooses to use it though he doesn’t throw massive amounts of jabs. He’s not the biggest combination puncher and instead tries to land with power and accuracy which has led to him getting outworked sometimes. His footwork is solid though not as good as you’d expect from an amateur as good as him and that goes for his defence as well. I think he does everything better from a technical stand point than Chelokhsaev and does seem to have decent power himself.

Yauheni Dauhaliavets

I think this should be a fun war for five or six rounds before the more accurate punching of Dauhaliavets takes over and he gets the stoppage in round seven or eight. I think both will take a lot of punches in this fight as neither has great defence but Dauhaliavets has better technical skills and I expect his punches to land first the majority of the time which will lead to him winning.

Florian Marku versus Muma Mweemba breakdown

I think this should be a relatively easy tune up fight for Marku who is a rising prospect in the Welterweight division. Muma Mweemba is coming off a two year lay off into this fight and lost his last fight to a journeyman that he really shouldn’t have lost too if hes going to have a future in the sport.

Florian Marku is a former kick boxer who turned to boxing in recent years and has been relatively successful so far. He’s quite an aggressive fighter who has decent power. His technical skills aren’t terrible but its very clear from watching him that hes a former kick boxer as instead of slipping shots he just stands in front of his opponent in a high guard and waits for them to stop punching. He has a massive fan base and if he can get to a decent level in boxing he could sell out small arenas by himself because of how passionate the Albanian fan base is. I think he waits a bit too much and it sometimes looks like hes trying to have a competition with his opponent and show them that they can’t hurt him which in his case isn’t even fun to watch.

Muma Mweemba has a little power but not as much as Marku has and he’s only shown it versus inexperienced journeymen so far. He’s coming off a long lay off after he lost to Nathan Hardy who is a journeyman. He was dropped in that fight and thats not a good sign considering hes fighting a big puncher.

Muma Mweemba

I think Florian Marku should get the stoppage in rounds three or four because he is better offensively and carries a power advantage. He should also be less rusty as he fought last year while Mweemba hasn’t fought for over two years. I’d be a bit disappointed if he didn’t get the KO as this fight is set up for him to get it after almost a year out the ring.

Filip Hrgovic versus Rydell Booker breakdown

Hrgovic is one of the best heavyweight prospects around right now but really needs to move past this level of opposition. Rydell Booker isn’t a terrible fighter but hes old now and is just being used as a measuring stick for heavyweight prospects and contenders.

Filip Hrgovic has great technical skills and massive power which doesn’t bode well for Booker who’s legs have slowed down and has to rely on his chin to get through fights in recent years.

I think Hrgovic will win by knockout within four or five rounds because of his power and that Booker doesn’t look to have came in great shape for this fight.

Zhilei Zhang versus Devin Vargas breakdown

This is a tune up fight for Zhang who recently signed a promotional contract with Matchroom. Devin Vargas is a journeyman heavyweight at this point who isn’t best known for his durability.

Zhilei Zhang is a tall southpaw who has good technical skills due to his extensive amateur background. Hes a decent puncher and even in the fights he’s gone the distance hes shown he has good power. When he’s in shape he seems to have decent stamina and while hes been down before I think his chin is solid for a heavyweight.

Devin Vargas is quite clearly past his prime and has came into this fight heavier than usual so I suspect he hasn’t been training that hard. He doesn’t have great punch resistance and body shots especially effect him. I don’t think he has the skills to get on the inside of Zhang and make it a hard fight.

I think Zhang will win by knockout within six or so rounds because of his technical skills and power which should be more than enough to stop Vargas who isn’t known for going the distance.

Luis Ortiz versus Alexander Flores breakdown

This is an noncompetitive tune up fight and honestly a waste of time for Luis Ortiz. He’s now 41 years old and is still fighting people that have no chance against him. Alexander Flores is a domestic level heavyweight in the USA at best and shouldn’t be mixing with world level contenders.

Luis Ortiz will win by knockout in six rounds because hes just overall the better fighter

Devin Haney versus Yuriorkis Gamboa

Devin Haney is one of the best up and coming fighters in the sport and could potentially become a star within a few years. Yuriorkis Gamboa used to be a very good fighter but that was five or six year ago and he’s well past his best now. Gamboa isn’t a natural lightweight either but Devin Haney is and is likely to move up in the next few years.

I think Devin Haney will win by stoppage within eight rounds because hes the bigger, younger, fresher fighter who also has great technical skills and a big future ahead of him

Kali Reis versus Kandi Wyatt breakdown

This is a decent fight for a world title between two fighters that have fought at that level before. Kali Reis has been a champion before and has a lot of experience while Wyatt got stopped in her big step up fight.

I think Kali Reis will end up having too much experience for Wyatt and likely stops her late in the fight.

Giemel Magramo versus Junto Nakatani breakdown

This is the best fight of the weekend and if you can’t catch it live then should try and find it on youtube after it happens. Giemel Magramo has only lost once and that was in a very close fight to Muhammed Waseem. Junto Nakatani is currently unbeaten at 20-0 and has faced good fighters such as Milan Melindo.

I don’t think this fight has to be hugely over complicated to break down as it comes down to a few key factors. Whether Nakatani can establish a jab and keep the fight for the most part at distance or whether Magramo can get on the inside and slow Nakatani down with body work and superior inside fighting. I have no real idea who will be able to establish their preferred style of fighting on the fight best and thats why its such a great match up.

Giemel Magramo

I’m slightly leaning towards Junto Nakatani because the fight is taking place in Japan and hes from Japan so hasn’t had to travel. Scoring is normally fair in Japan so I don’t think its likely he wins due to bad scoring.

Kent Cruz versus Erik Humberto Castillo breakdown

This is a solid comeback fight for Kent Cruz who has spent more than a year out the ring. Castillo is a domestic fighter from Mexico but will be coming to win so should still be a solid opponent.

Kent Cruz is a good boxer-puncher though relies more on his skills than his power in fights. His jab is best when he doubles it up and puts a right hand behind it as he rarely uses it by itself. His defence seems solid from what I’ve watched and while his footwork isn’t perfect its good. He has some power but not necessarily power that will bail him out of a hard fight if hes down on the scorecards. He has been out the ring for over a year and may be a bit rusty compared too before.

Erik Humberto Castillo isn’t good technically and loads up on a lot of his punches so most fighters can see them coming. His defence isn’t good though hes shown a good chin so far in his career. He also doesn’t throw a huge amount of punches when hes in with good competition and while he has a good record of 9-2 it is heavily padded.

Erik Humberto Castillo

I expect Kent Cruz to look good in this fight and win by stoppage with the ref stepping in. I think hes much better technically and also has the natural size and reach advantage.

Chordale Booker versus Sanny Duversonne breakdown

This is a step backwards for Booker who got a good win last time out versus Wale Omotoso. Sanny Duversonne is a domestic level fighter who isn’t really on the level of Booker but can give him rounds.

Chordale Booker has good boxing skills and while he hasn’t shown he has a huge amount of power I expect him to win this fight using his technical ability. He’s the much more proven fighter and while he hasn’t fought for a while I don’t see that as a huge problem.

I expect Chordale Booker to win a decision due to his superior technical skills and having operated at a higher level.
