Florian Marku versus Jamie Stewart breakdown

This could be a bit of a competitive fight because Jamie Stewart is 2-0 and has shown hes a decent fighter by beating Michael Hennessy Jnr who was undefeated at the time. Florian Marku looks to be a decent prospect and will be the clear favorite in this fight.

Florian Marku is an aggressive fighter who fights best when on the front foot. He has a good defence though all it involves is putting his gloves up and not moving. He’s decent offensively and clearly has respectable power. He was a high level kickboxer so is decent technically but hasn’t fully transitioned into a more classic boxing style yet.

Jamie Stewart hasn’t been boxing for a huge amount of time but has taken to the sport quickly. He’s tough and has a good jab which he works well off. He’s decent technically himself but hasn’t quite shown the power that Marku has though I think to an extent this is because his opponents have been tougher than a lot of Marku’s early ones. He’s only had two professional fights so it’s hard to judge to much but I think hes a decent fighter and deserves a lot of credit for stepping in on short notice at such an early stage of his career.

I think Florian Marku will likely win a decision because hes the much more experienced fighter and has had more notice for this fight though I think it will be more competitive than people think. If you have the time I suggest watching Jamie Stewart’s story on youtube as it shows his past and how far hes managed to come after being addicted to a drug called Monkey Dust. Win or lose I hope he gets more opportunities and I’ll be rooting for him to win Saturday night.

Kaisee Benjamin versus Ben Fields breakdown

I think this is a great match up between two fighters from Birmingham who are currently area level. The fight will be over ten rounds for Kaisee Benjamin’s Midlands Area Welterweight title.

Kaisee Benjamin is the more classic boxer of the two who sets punches up with a jab and can box at range if needed. His defence is decent and hes proven hes a ten round fighter as hes gone that distance three times. He’s not got a huge amount of power but is a bigger puncher than his record suggests.

Ben Fields has been matched hard throughout his career and has been in the away corner for the majority of his fights. He’s very tough and won’t stop going forward at his opponents who he often outworks over six and eight rounds to win decisions. He’s gone the ten round distance twice now and so shouldn’t have any stamina issues.

I think this fight could go either way honestly as it really depends how Benjamin deals with Fields pressure and non stop style. If he can get into a rhythm and box off the back foot then I think he can win a decision but if he looks at all uncomfortable in there then I think Fields will manage to squeeze a close decision win. It’s a great match up and a true 50/50 in my eyes.

Sam Eggington versus Ashley Theophane breakdown

This should be an exciting fight for however long it lasts as Eggington is an all action fighter and Theophane at 40 isn’t going to be able to move around the ring as well as he used too.

Sam Eggington is generally a come forward fighter that throws a lot of punches and has shown a good chin. He’s relentless and breaks people down by walking them down until either an accumulation of punches or exhaustion stops them. He’s had some setbacks in his career but has always bounced back and he looks to do that again here. I think he is truly a throw back fighter as he’ll fight anyone and hasn’t been afraid to lose his perfect record. He probably won’t be a world champion but he is improving and is always entertaining which is what matters.

Ashley Theophane has had a long career and this is likely his last fight. He’s a good fighter but is clearly past his prime at this point. I think this will show in his reaction speed and also the second half of the fight where he’ll start to slow down. He’s shown a good chin in his career but I think it will finally crack in this fight.

Ashley Theophane

I think Sam Eggington will win this fight by knockout in the second half of the fight due to his youth and relentless style which will break Theophane down.

Daishi Nagata versus Akihiro Kondo breakdown

I think this should be a relatively easy fight for Nagata who is on a good run of form right now. Akihiro Kondo used to be a good fighter but is more of a gatekeeper at this point in his career.

I think Daishi Nagata will win a decision due to being the younger more fresh fighter who is on the rise.

Alejandro Santiago Barrios versus Erick Gonzalez Hernandez breakdown

This should be a relatively easy fight for Barrios who is a fighter who should already be world champion in my opinion. He has a great skillset and has given a lot of top guys problems throughout his career which has led to him getting 5 draws which should really have been wins.

Erick Gonzalez Hernandez is a domestic fighter who mostly fights at lower weight classes than Bantamweight which is where this fight is taking place. He’s had mixed results though his only loss is to current world champion Elwin Soto and theres no shame in that. He’s a decent fighter but just not on the level of Barrios and doesn’t have the same track record at the highest level.

Erick Gonzalez Hernandez

Alejandro Santiago Barrios has a good skill set where he’ll raid forward before moving back out of range. He is willing to get into exchanges and can fight both on the back and front foot. In recent times hes started to get more power and the stoppages to boot.

I think Barrios will win by knockout in the 7th or 8th round due to his superior skill set and experience at a higher level.

Lester Martinez versus Uriel Gonzalez breakdown

This is a step up in competition for the hard hitting Martinez who is currently rampaging his way through domestic Mexican fighters. Uriel Gonzalez is a bit of a gatekeeper around middleweight and generally gets stopped by the top prospects he faces.

Lester Martinez was a standout amateur and appears to carry power as a pro. He’s technically good with an aggressive style which has led him too six knockouts in six fights.

Uriel Gonzalez hasn’t shown much durability when facing top prospects and I don’t expect it to be any different here. He’s a solid domestic Mexican middleweight but is just outclassed in this match up.

Uriel Gonzalez

I think Lester Martinez will win by knockout within three rounds due to his power and technical skills which hes got from his extensive amateur background.

Santiago Dominguez versus Ricardo Lara breakdown

This should be an easy fight for Dominguez who continues to build his undefeated record hopefully to the point that he gets a title shot. Ricardo Lara is fairly tough but doesn’t really have the skills to beat Dominguez.

Santiago Dominguez has decent power and technical skills though isn’t someone I see becoming a top contender in the Welterweight division. He is certainly better than Lara who at this point of his career has become a journeyman.

Ricardo Lara

I think Santiago Dominguez will win by KO in seven or eight rounds.

Michael Ramabeletsa versus Chris Bourke breakdown

This should be a competitive fight between two Super Bantamweights on good runs of form. Ramabeletsa is much better than his record suggests and often beats undefeated prospects. Chris Bourke is currently undefeated at 8-0 but has only really had one challenging fight.

I think for the most part this fight will be even but towards the end Bourke will take over due to his body work and amateur pedigree. Ramabeletsa is 39 and hasn’t fought for a year so I don’t know if he can do ten hard rounds.

Chris Bourke

I think Chris Bourke will win a decision after ten rounds due to his amateur background and his youth.

Dennis McCann versus Pedro Matos breakdown

This is a little bit of a step up for McCann who I expect to make a statement. Pedro Matos has taken on the role of an away corner fighter recently and while he hasn’t won he hasn’t put in terrible performances.

I think Dennis McCann does everything better than Matos and will show that there are levels to boxing when they enter the ring. Matos has been stopped by the feather fisted Sunny Edwards in what was a relatively one sided fight.

Pedro Matos

I think Dennis McCann will win by early KO due to his superior speed, power and boxing ability. He’s only 19 so theres no rush but I think he can be moved decently quickly to British title level.
