Danny Whitaker versus Chris Healey 2 breakdown

The first fight between the two was very competitive and could have gone either way and I expect this to go the same way. Healey has a lot more experience going the distance and I believe that will likely be the difference in this fight as when it goes down the stretch Danny Whitaker will get tired and Healey will come on strong.

Chris Healey

I think after a competitive start Chris Healey will come on strong late to win a decision on the cards and potentially set up a trilogy.

Charlie Schofield versus Mickey Ellison 2 breakdown

This is a good fight between two English level fighters who fittingly are fighting for the vacant English Super Middleweight title. Both are fairly tall for the weight class and are relatively evenly matched skill wise in my opinion. Ellison has been much more active since their first fight while Schofield hasn’t had a fight since.

Mickey Ellison

I think this will be a competitive back and forth fight which will go the distance. I think Schofield will be able to take his revenge and win due to Ellison getting knocked out recently while Schofield has had a lot of time off and should be rested up.

Leosdan Nunez versus Liborio Solis breakdown

This is an excellent fight between two fighters coming off losses who need wins to get back on the right track. Leosdan Nunez lost to an underrated fighter in Salvador Juarez while Solis lost to Rigondeaux who while past his best is still a very good fighter.

I really think this fight could go either way as Solis while past his prime now used to be a world class fighter and didn’t look too washed up in his last fight while Nunez is in his prime and was a decent amateur in Cuba.

Liborio Solis

If I had to pick one to win I would go with Nunez by decision due to being closer to his prime and how inactive Solis has been as he hasn’t fought for over a year.

Johan Gonzalez versus Yuri Mendez breakdown

This should be a fairly easy fight for Gonzalez who is a huge puncher with a good amateur background. Mendez is a journeyman at this point who has lost his last four fights in a row and hasn’t picked up a win since 2013.

I expect Johan Gonzalez to win by knockout within five or six rounds due to being the bigger puncher and also actually having won in the last seven years.

Fedor Chudinov versus Ryno Liebenberg breakdown

This is a decent fight between Chudinov who has been slowly grinding his way towards a world title shot at super middleweight and Ryno Liebenberg who scored a big upset win in his native South Africa recently. A win here for Fedor Chudinov may be the final thing he needs to do to get his title shot at the WBA world title as he has the gold title and is defending it here. The gold title is effectively the king of the ranking belts and so it’s likely the WBA will soon give him a final eliminator or just a straight up title shot if he keeps winning. For Ryno Liebenberg this is a huge opportunity to enter the world stage and potentially get himself a title shot after a very long career.

Both fighters come forward with little regard to defence and admit themselves that they like to fight rather than box on the back foot. With this in mind I think this makes this fight easier for Chudinov who struggles the most with people that can move and box. I think Chudinov has the better chin and also has more power so will come out on top in the exchanges. I think as the fight wears on Liebenberg will get more tired and Chudinov will come on strong.

Ryno Liebenberg

I think Fedor Chudinov will likely win by stoppage in the second half of the fight due to having more power and this fight stylistically suiting him due to Liebenberg’s inclination to stand in front of his opponents. It wouldn’t surprise me if it went to a decision however.

One to watch : Alfred Lamptey

Alfred Lamptey is a 19 year old featherweight prospect from Ghana who recently won his first professional title in a step up in competition. I watched the fight and was impressed with what I saw and I think in the future he could reach world title contention.

Throughout the fight Lamptey stayed consistent in jabbing to both set up his punches and keep his opponent at bay. After the first round it was obvious that he also uses it as a range finder as he started to land more punches with better accuracy. I think to be so consistent with jabbing at such a young age is a great sign of things to come. Even highly regarded amateurs seem to forget about the most important tool in boxing which is the jab but Lamptey doesn’t and instead uses it as a major tool in his arsenal. Lamptey fought the majority of the fight on the back foot and showed himself to be a good counter puncher which is another rarity for a 19 year old prospect. When his opponent threw Lamptey would counter with two or three punches with one often being his trademark uppercuts which he puts a lot of power behind.

A thing I was also impressed too see was him going to the body and placing his punches well in that department. I was pleasantly surprised by how good his defence was as he covered up well before firing back and seemed comfortable under fire.

Alfred Lamptey versus Saidu Amadu

One of the biggest advantages he has over other prospects and fighters in the division in general is that he’s only 19 and has years to improve before hes properly thrown into the deep end at world level. As long as he stays dedicated and keeps improving then I think at the very least he can become a contender and more than likely become a world champion.

Carlos Canizales versus Esteban Bermudez Salas breakdown

Canizales is having his first fight in over two years and honestly it should be a fairly easy one. Carlos Canizales is one of the best Light Fly weights in the world but has been inactive and without backing for a while now. Salas is a domestic Mexican fighter who has lost at levels below world level which is what Canizales is.

I think Carlos Canizales should win by knockout within four or five rounds due to being better in almost every department. Hopefully after this fight he gets more opportunities in the division.

Khalil Coe versus Nathaniel Tadd breakdown

Khalil Coe is making his pro debut after a good amateur career where he scored a notable win over Julio Cesar La Cruz. Coe will be fighting at Light heavyweight for this fight and hopefully will become a good addition to the division which is mostly full of old fighters at the moment. Nathaniel Todd has lost four in a row and has become a journeyman at this stage of his career.

Nathaniel Tadd

I think Khalil Coe will win a decision after six rounds due to his technical skills which he got from his amateur career. It wouldn’t surprise me if he gets relatively fast tracked if he carries his power over from the amateurs.

Issac Hardman versus Robert Berridge breakdown

This fight was put together at short notice as Hardman wasn’t supposed to be fighting on this card but was given the opportunity after other fights fell through. Berridge has also taken this fight on short notice and hasn’t fought since 2018.

Issac Hardman is an aggressive fighter with good power and has been very active recently. He’s the best chance Australia have of one of their middleweights making it to an international stage and judging from his current form he should make it there within five or six more fights.

Robert Berridge hasn’t fought since 2018 and seemed on a downward slope in the few years before his retirement. He’s shorter than Hardman but has a long reach for his size which could cause some problems during the fight.

Robert Berridge

I think Issac Hardman will likely win by knockout within five rounds due to being much more active in recent years and also being much closer to his prime while Berridge seems to have declined.

Justis Huni versus Christian Ndzie Tsoye breakdown

This is only Justis Huni’s fourth fight but hes already clearing out the heavyweight domestic scene in his native Australia and this fight is the next step of that campaign. Justis Huni had a great amateur background and may still go to the 2021 Olympics after having a few more professional fights. He’s a good technical boxer with fast hands and feet which separate him from the majority of the other heavyweights. He throws combinations like hes a middleweight which in a division of slow plodding giants could see him rise to the top quickly.

Christian Ndzie Tsoye is a solid domestic fighter in Australia who has mixed with decent competition so far in his career. He’s come out of those fights with a record of 5-3-2 which isn’t pretty too look at but if you look beyond the surface hes just as good of an opponent as Huni’s first three. Tsoye has a bit of an amateur background but nothing to the extent of Huni and isn’t as good technically.

Christian Ndzie Tsoye

I think Justis Huni’s technical skills and hand speed will lead him to winning by knockout within five or six rounds. Huni should be a level above Tsoye who is a reasonable fighter on a domestic level but unfortunately for him Huni is likely good enough to become world class.
