Jose Pedraza versus Julian Rodriguez breakdown

This is an excellent fight between two weight world champion Jose Pedraza and top prospect/contender Julian Rodriguez. I expect this fight to be competitive as both are technically good and have reasonable power. Pedraza has a lot more experience at the highest level and has looked good in his last two fights. Pedraza has struggled the most with southpaws and Rodriguez isn’t a southpaw so that won’t be a problem for Pedraza.

Julian Rodriguez

I think Jose Pedraza will win a ten round decision due to having much more experience and being a bit better technically.

Shakur Stevenson versus Jeremia Nakathila breakdown

This is a decent fight though I want to see Shakur Stevenson step up and fight the elite at super featherweight as he is clearly talented enough to do it. Jeremia Nakathila is a big puncher but nowhere near as good of a pure boxer as Stevenson is.

Jeremia Nakathila

Shakur Stevenson should be able to out-box Nakathila without that many problems due to him being technically better and one of the better pure-boxers in the sport right now. I expect Shakur Stevenson will win a decision after twelve rounds.

Alen Babic versus Damian Chambers breakdown

This should be a fun fight between Alen Babic (6-0 with six knockouts) and Damien Chambers (11-1 with seven knockouts). Both are fairly big punchers and don’t have great defences so i’m expecting this to result in an early shootout.

Damien Chambers

I think Alen Babic will likely simply be too relentless for Chambers who has been dropped multiple times in his career and unlike the other fights Babic has been fighting isn’t actually a heavyweight. Babic will win by first or second round knockout.

Lewis Ritson versus Jeremias Nicolas Ponce breakdown

This is likely to be an all out war for twelve rounds where the winner will likely fight for a vacant IBF world title at 140 pounds. Lewis Ritson is 21-1 with twelve knockouts and has a come forward all action style. Jeremias Nicolas Ponce is 27-0 with 14 knockouts and has a very similar style.

Jeremias Nicolas Ponce

I don’t think this needs a whole lot of analysis because they should be slugging it out and it all really depends on if Ponce can knock Ritson out because I doubt hes getting a decision in Ritson’s hometown. I personally think Ritson will survive and in a close fight will win a decision to advance into a potential world title shot.

David Papot versus Evgeny Terentiev breakdown

This is a really solid fight at super welterweight between two European level contenders. Papot is 24-0-1 with only three knockouts but does have some technical skill. Evgeny Terentiev is a decent southpaw who has struggled with various fighters throughout his career but always puts a good effort in.

Evgeny Terentiev

I think David Papot should win this fight by decision because hes technically better however Terentiev has put a lot of effort into his fights and normally these type of fighters score an upset when you least expect it. I expect Papot to extend his unbeaten run however wouldn’t be that surprised if Terentiev beat him.

Roman Andreev versus Freddy Fonseca breakdown

This is a decent fight between fringe contender Andreev and gatekeeper Fonseca. Roman Andreev has slowly built his record up to 24-0 and is looking to get a world title shot fairly soon. Fonseca is taking yet another fight on the road and an upset win will get him a lot of big fights in the future.

Roman Andreev is better technically and also has more power so unless his age is catching up to him he should win this fight by decision after twelve rounds. He could get a stoppage in the second half of the fight however as Fonseca does shell up if hes outclassed.

Luis Torres versus Diego Fabian Eligio breakdown

This is a good fight and an excellent test for Torres who is quickly becoming one of the better Lightweight prospects coming out of Mexico. Luis Torres is 11-0 with eight knockouts and over the last year has stepped his competition up significantly.

Luis Torres is fairly tall for a lightweight at 5 ft 9 and with him being a southpaw this really plays to his advantage in fights. He has a nice jab when he chooses to use it but mostly gets into fierce exchanges with his opponents where due to his power and speed he comes out on top. His punches so far have been that little bit shorter so they get to the target quicker and he’s clearly better technically than the opponents hes faced so far but he doesn’t often try to frustrate them using his height and southpaw stance. He’s only 19 and has years to improve so I think hes a very good prospect and from watching his fights is also very exciting when he fights.

Diego Fabian Eligio is also a come forward fighter who isn’t afraid of getting into exchanges with his opponents. He’s only 24 but has a lot of experience and went the distance with Yvan Mendy a few years ago. He’s a shorter lightweight and lost his last fight in a bit of an upset where at least on paper he should have won. That was his first fight in just under two years so I expect he had some ring rust. I don’t think he has the power or offensive variety that Torres has.

Diego Fabian Eligio

I think Luis Torres will win this fight by decision due to having more power and being much more equipped in an offensive fire fight which is what I think this fight will be.

Alan Solis versus Pablo Robles breakdown

This is a really good fight between two young Mexican fighters who are near the start of their careers. Both have been pro for over three years but are still only 22. Alan Solis is 13-0-1 with seven knockouts and is a promising featherweight prospect. Pablo Robles is 14-2 with nine knockouts and lost his last fight to the undefeated Bryan Acosta Garcia who is another good featherweight prospect.

Alan Solis is mostly a counter puncher who uses his footwork and technical skills to win fights rather than pressure and brawling. He has a good left hook to the body and uses the jab frequently. He’s certainly more of a boxer than a puncher and you can see in his fights that he cares about defence rather than the stereotypical “Mexican style”. He does sometimes lean to far over his front foot in my opinion but it isn’t a major issue and one he can rectify as he continues in his career.

Pablo Robles comes forward with no thoughts of defence and just tries to overwhelm his opponents with volume and pressure. He’s not hard to counter when he comes in to range and a lot of his punches are wide. When he punches he leaves his chin open and even when not punching he leans over his front foot a lot which leaves his chin exposed. He does have a bit of power but not enough to fit his aggressive no holds barred style.

Pablo Robles

Alan Solis will box off the back foot in this fight and counter Robles who will come forward with reckless abandon. I think Solis will drop Robles once or twice with well timed counters before taking a ten round decision win due to out-boxing him throughout the fight. Solis is technically better and has a good style to deal with Robles aggression.

Daishi Nagata versus Masahiro Suzuki breakdown

This is an excellent fight that is being contested over ten rounds for the Japanese Super Lightweight title. Daishi Nagata won the title with a big upset win over Koki Inoue and then defended it versus Akihiro Kondo though the fight ended in a draw. Nagata has been on the regional Japanese scene for a while now is this bout is his 20th while Suzuki has only had six fights and this is his first big step up.

Nagata clearly has the experience advantage and is used to going ten or twelve hard rounds while Suzuki has only gone six rounds before. Suzuki may be a little bit better technically but he also hasn’t faced the competition that Nagata has.

Masahiro Suzuki

I expect Nagata to win a decision after ten rounds due to having much more experience and also putting in some good results recently while Suzuki has been fighting opponents on a lower level.

Jaime Munguia gets new opponent for June 19th fight date versus Kamil Szeremeta

Jaime Munguia has got a new opponent for his June 19th fight date after Maciej Sulecki pulled out for undisclosed reasons. This isn’t the first time Munguia has had Sulecki pull out of a fight and has had to move fight dates due to it.

Kamil Szeremeta

His new opponent is Kamil Szeremeta who is 21-1 and last fought Gennadiy Golovkin who stopped him in eight rounds. I think this opponent is fine considering hes a late notice replacement and is coming off a title fight himself. I haven’t watched much tape on Szeremeta but I expect Munguia to knock him out in the second half of the fight. I’m glad too see Munguia is actually going to be able to fight after he had a fight cancelled recently.
