Vergil Ortiz Jr versus Egidijus Kavaliauskas breakdown

This is an excellent fight between fast rising young contender and the veteran Kavaliauskas. Ortiz Jr is a big puncher and is dangerous at mid range. When hes at not at mid range hes not as confident punching and will mostly throw jabs and single punches. Kavaliauskas has power but is vulnerable defensively.

Egidijus Kavaliauskas

I think these two will go to war for six rounds before Ortiz Jr overwhelms Kavaliauskas with his power. Ortiz Jr isn’t the best defensively but hes better than Kavaliauskas and that will be the difference.

Albert Bell versus Julio Cortez breakdown

Albert Bell is a fighter I think could win a world title on his day, he’s a massive super featherweight with huge reach and height advantages over his opponents. He uses his height well and boxes at range, moving around the ring and not getting into exchanges. Julio Cortez is a fairly basic fighter who has lost at featherweight and is moving up for this fight.

I think Albert Bell will win a decision after eight rounds.

Carlos Balderas versus Fidel Cervantes breakdown

This is a good comeback fight for Balderas after he was knocked out in his last fight, all the way back in 2019. He’s changed trainers and moved away from home comforts to have a second try at his career. Fidel Cervantes is also coming off a loss but his was in 2021. I think Balderas is more powerful and is better technically.

Balderas will win by knockout in four or five rounds.

Jason Moloney versus Joshua Greer Jr breakdown

This is a decent fight though I favour Moloney heavily as hes the all round better fighter. Moloney lost to Inoue in his last fight but survived seven rounds and has shown hes a class fighter throughout his career. Joshua Greer Jr has had some hard fights and hasn’t looked good in any of them in my opinion. He drew his last fight and lost the fight before that, I expect his bad run of form to continue here.

I expect Jason Moloney to win by decision after ten rounds.

Arnold Barboza Jr versus Antonio Moran breakdown

This is a solid fight for Barboza who is almost at a world title fight. Antonio Moran is a solid fighter who has power but normally loses to the top fighters. Barboza is a boxer-puncher with good technical skills.

Antonio Moran

I think Barboza Jr should be able to out-box Moran over ten rounds and keep advancing towards a world title fight.

Joshua Franco versus Andrew Moloney 3 breakdown

I’m excited for the end of this trilogy as the first fight was good and the second fight ended in controversy. Joshua Franco, who is no stranger to trilogy’s, dominated the majority of the first fight and rightfully won a decision. In the second fight, Andrew Moloney boxed well for two rounds and seemingly caused Franco’s eye to swell shut with well placed jabs. The referee disagreed and because it was before four rounds, the fight was declared a no contest.

I think Andrew Moloney’s best chance to regain his belt was in that second fight when Franco looked like he’d underestimated him. Coming into this third fight, Franco will know that he needs to be at his best and his trainer will come up with a good game plan for the fight. I personally see this fight going similarly to the first fight where after Moloney does well for a few rounds, Joshua Franco moves through the gears and simply outworks and out punches him. Franco showed in their first fight that hes the bigger puncher and isn’t afraid of exchanges. For Moloney to win he needs to keep this fight at range, only coming in to get short raiding attacks off before backing off and using his jab.

Andrew Moloney

I think Joshua Franco will win a decision after twelve rounds because I think he’ll be able to force Moloney to fight his fight down the stretch and will hurt him multiple times.

Juan Carlos Payano versus Raymond Tabugon breakdown

This is a comeback opponent for Payano against a name a lot of top fighters have fought. Tabugon is a notable journeyman who’s tough but also doesn’t have much chance of upsetting the fighters he faces. His last upset win was in 2014 to put this fight into context. Payano might not be elite at super bantamweight or bantamweight but hes more than good enough to beat fighters like Tabugon.

I think Juan Carlos Payano will win this fight by decision after eight rounds due to out-boxing Tabugon, who will try but simply doesn’t have the skill set to win.

Brandun Lee versus Ezequiel Victor Fernandez breakdown

This is a decent step for Brandun Lee as Fernandez has never been stopped and has had over over 30 fights. Brandun Lee is an explosive puncher who has blasted through his competition with no problems so far. Fernandez hasn’t won a fight since 2017 but hasn’t been stopped in his four losses. He’ll come to fight but I think will struggle to deal with Lee’s power.

I think Brandun Lee will win this fight by knockout within three or four rounds due to being the bigger, more powerful fighter.

Jonas Sultan versus Sharone Carter breakdown

This is a solid fight between fringe contender Sultan and another fringe contender in Sharone Carter. Sultan has a win over John Riel Casimero but hasn’t fought since 2019. Sharone Carter has been active and in competitive fights where’s hes shown he can hang with fringe world level fighters.

Sharone Carter

I think Sharone Carter will out work Sultan over eight rounds and take a decision. Sultan will have ring rust and Carter is a decent fighter.

Rau’shee Warren versus Damien Vazquez breakdown

This is an average fight as Warren should win comfortably though with boxing you never know. Vazquez showed a lot of heart in his last fight but took a huge amount of damage. It clearly showed he needed to step down the levels and while he won’t face the problem of being in with a puncher in this fight, hes still outclassed in the skill department in my opinion.

I think after ten rounds Warren will win a decision due to out boxing Vazquez who has been outclassed when stepping up to world level.
