O’Shaquie Foster versus Miguel Roman breakdown

I think this is a great fight that could really go either way. O’Shaquie Foster is the most underrated talent in the super featherweight division and hasn’t up until this point been able to get big fights due to him being a big risk but having no reward if his opponents win. Miguel Roman is an experienced campaigner who is looking for one last world title shot as he was stopped in his most recent one versus Miguel Berchelt.

O’Shaquie Foster has good technical skills and boxes well off the back foot as he goes around the ring countering his opponents. He has one punch KO power and has hurt even tough opponents multiple times. He’s not mixed it at world level like Miguel Roman has but from his recent performances it looks like hes more than ready for it.

Miguel Roman has been around for a long time and is having his 76th professional fight on Thursday night. I’d describe his style as a come forward brawler who brings educated pressure. His defence like a lot of brawlers isn’t great but he does have a good chin which has served him well. He has respectable power and is a veteran of the ring so theres not much that Foster does which should surprise him.

Miguel Roman

I think O’Shaquie Foster will win a decision after countering Roman for 10 rounds off the back foot. I think while Roman will have some success coming forward I think his past wars and rising age will have slowed him down enough for Foster to handle him.

Juan Jose Barajas versus Gabriel Lopez breakdown

This should be a competitive fight as Barajas is still a prospect and Lopez is better than his record suggests. The fight will be for the vacant WBC Latina Super Middleweight title.

Juan Jose Barajas is very tall for the weight and normally uses that height well. I wouldn’t say his power is great and while his technical skills are decent they aren’t anything otherworldly. Theres limited footage online so there isn’t much I can analyse.

Gabriel Lopez has a nice double jab when he choose to use it but mostly pushes forward and throws big punches which put him off balance. He heavily leans over his front foot when he moves forward and this leads to him getting hit a lot. He’s not afraid to get into a war and seems to have good stamina which holds up over twelve rounds.

I think Barajas should be able to grind out a decision using his height and reach to exploit Lopez’s defensive flaws.

Geovany Bruzon versus Jesus Angel Nerio breakdown

This is a slight step up for Bruzon though not one he should struggle with too much. Bruzon is currently 2-0 officially though I’ve found footage of a fight that isn’t as of now recorded. Jesus Angel Nerio is a late replacement opponent and certainly not one Bruzon should struggle with.

Geovany Bruzon was a good amateur from Cuba and so has that elite pedigree to work with. He’s also only 23 so unlike a lot of Cuban amateurs that turn pro he has a lot of time left in the sport. He seems to have good fundamental skills and a decent bit of power though he hasn’t gone the past the first round as a pro so its hard to judge him. He has nice sharp counter hooks from the footage I’ve watched which may suggest he’ll be a counter puncher later in his career.

Jesus Angel Nerio is a very average super middleweight who is moving up to heavyweight after two years of inactivity. I don’t think this is going to end well for him at all and its very likely hes just put on weight in his two years of inactivity and hasn’t trained.

I think Geovany Bruzon will win by knockout because hes the natural heavyweight and has better skills. Bruzon is a prospect to watch right now in my opinion and at 23 has all the time in the world to develop into a world class contender.

Canelo Alvarez to fight Callum Smith on Dazn

It’s been confirmed by all parties that are involved that this fight will happen on Dazn on the 19th of December. I think this is a very good fight and while i’m sure people will find ways to down play it I think its outstanding considering the pandemic.

The obvious way to attack this fight is to say John Ryder should have beat Callum Smith and while I agree I don’t think that makes this fight bad. Injustices happen in boxing and if your going to remain sane you sometimes have to just roll with it and enjoy the fights that get made.

My early lean on this fight is that Callum Smith will lose wide on the scorecards or get stopped late on due to body shots.

Shohjahon Ergashev versus Dzmitry Miliusha breakdown

This should be a relatively easy tune up fight for Ergashev who is one of the best prospects in the 140 pound division. He has a lot of power and decent skills so should make short work of the over matched Miliusha who has lost his last three fights with two of them being by stoppage.

I think Ergashev should win this fight by knockout within four rounds as he has much more power and is on the rise at 18-0 while Miliusha has dropped to 9-3. Hopefully after this fight Ergashev gets into some sort of title eliminator as he’s ready for the world stage.

Terence Crawford stops Kell Brook in round four, looks for big fights next.

Terence Crawford stopped Kell Brook in four rounds on Saturday night in what some deemed a step up in competition for him at welterweight. While the win was impressive I thought it obvious Kell Brook is well past his prime and should potentially think about retiring. While the first few rounds were competitive and Brook won two of them on my scorecard you could tell the fight was only going to go one way after round three.

Hopefully we see Crawford in with the top welterweights soon as he’s too talented to be fighting Welterweight stars from the UK that peaked six years ago. A match up with either Porter or Keith Thurman would be good for his next fight before fighting Errol Spence in a mega fight.

Terence Crawford versus Kell Brook breakdown

I think this fight will be competitive early on and Brook may even catch Crawford and drop him but as the fight goes on I expect Crawford to come on strong as Brook starts to slow down. Brook has had bad damage to his eyes from previous fights and I think Crawford will be able to target his body and those eyes to break him down.

I expect Crawford to win by knockout in the second half of the fight after a competitive opening due to being fresher and also having the better skill set.

Terri Harper versus Katharina Thanderz breakdown

I expect this to be a very competitive fight but think Harper’s experience of being in a war last time out should see her to the victory. I also think Thanderz has been running it close with fighters that aren’t on Harpers level and she can’t afford to do that in this fight.

I expect Harper to win a 10 round decision.

Katie Taylor versus Miriam Gutierrez breakdown

I think Katie Taylor has the better skill set and is closer to her prime. Gutierrez isn’t a bad fighter but in her last fight she was dropped and barely beat a fighter who has one knockout in her entire career.

I think Katie Taylor will win by stoppage late on due to being much quicker and just overwhelming Gutierrez.
