Sam Eggington versus Carlos Molina breakdown

This is a weird fight if i’m being completely honest as Molina is 37 and in recent years has been used as a test guy for prospects but in this case is being brought in to be a test for Eggington at middleweight. Neither of these fighters are naturally middleweights so it’ll be interesting to see how they adjust to the new weight class.

Carlos Molina

I personally believe Eggington will be too big and powerful for Molina who while tough has slowed down and will likely lose on points. I can see Molina’s corner pulling him out if he starts taking too much punishment.

Kazuto Takesako versus Riku Kunimoto

This is a good fight for the Japanese Middleweight title between two undefeated fighters. Takesako is 12-0-1 with 11 knockouts while Kunimoto is 4-0 with 2 knockouts. Takesako has the power advantage also has a lot of experience compared to Kunimoto who has only gone as far as six rounds. Kunimoto is decent technically but I think will struggle down the stretch against the pressure of Takesako.

Riku Kunimoto

I think Takesako’s experience and power should be enough to get him a stoppage win in the second half of the fight.

Anthony Joshua versus Tyson Fury most likely cancelled

The mega-fight between Joshua and Fury has most likely been cancelled after a judge ruled that Fury contractually owed Wilder a third fight. Fury and Wilder will likely face off some time in July or August with the winner hopefully fighting whoever holds the rest of the belts.

It’s disappointing that we won’t see an undisputed heavyweight fight soon but at least we’ll have good fights in Fury-Wilder 3 and Joshua versus Oleksandr Usyk.

Pavel Silyagin versus Abdallah Shabani Pazi breakdown

I don’t think this fight will be very competitive at all as Silyagin is one of the better up and coming contenders in the super middleweight division while Pazi is a bit of a journeyman.

I think Pavel Silyagin will win by stoppage in seven or eight rounds due to being better technically and having a good jab.

Brandon Figueroa versus Luis Nery breakdown

This is an excellent fight between two top super bantamweights who both have power and throw a lot of punches. I don’t think either has looked great in their recent performances but this should be a good action fight.

Brandon Figuerpa

I think Figueroa will try boxing from the outside at first due to his height and reach but will be drawn into a war which he’ll end up losing down the stretch. I think Luis Nery will win a close decision after twelve rounds due to his relentless pressure and power.

Lerrone Richards versus Giovanni De Carolis breakdown

This isn’t a bad match up on paper but it’s also one that will likely be terrible to watch in the ring. Richards is good technically and can really box but lacks a killer instinct and is perfectly happy to go the distance even against over matched foes. Giovanni De Carolis hasn’t fought for over a year and at 36 is coming to the end of a long career.

Giovanni De Carolis

I think Lerrone Richards should be able to do enough to win a decision due to his technical skill though Carolis has competed at European level for a long time and is a solid fighter.

Tommy McCarthy versus Alexandru Jur breakdown

I’m just going to be honest and say I don’t think this is a good fight at all and if McCarthy has anything about him he should be stopping Jur who has proven that he doesn’t handle stepping up very well.

Alexandru Jur

McCarthy is better technically and holds more power. He’s also put together a few good results while Jur has spent the majority of his time since 2018 losing. McCarthy should win by stoppage in the second half of the fight.

Gamal Yafai versus Jason Cunningham breakdown

This isn’t a horrible first defence of Yafai’s European title though it’s certainly not a fight i’m particularly excited about. Yafai got his career back on track by winning the European Super Bantamweight title in Italy last year. Jason Cunningham has had a few tune up fights since his loss to Michael Conlan in 2018 but hasn’t really done much since.

Jason Cunningham

I think Yafai should have too much power and technical ability at this stage as Cunningham is coming off a long lay off and normally loses when he steps up to this level. Yafai will win by knockout in the second half of the fight.

Dalton Smith versus Lee Appleyard breakdown

This is a good fight between Smith who is one of the better British prospects right now and Appleyard who is a solid domestic fighter. Smith is currently 7-0 but is being progressed quickly and will be fighting for the vacant English Super Lightweight title in this fight.

I think Dalton Smith is better technically due to his amateur pedigree and likely has more power as well. Appleyard has a lot of experience but hasn’t fought for over a year.

Lee Appleyard

I think Dalton Smith will win a decision after ten rounds due to being technically better and also holding the power advantage.

Solomon Dacres versus Mladen Manev breakdown

This is Dacres professional debut after a decent amateur career and so of course a fight that he’s expected to win. Manev is a journeyman who is small for a heavyweight and while he had a respectable amateur career he fights well above the weight class he should in the pro’s and hasn’t done so well.

I think Solomon Dacres will likely win by knockout within four rounds due to his amateur pedigree and the size advantage he holds.
