I don’t mind this fight as Sharone Carter got an upset win over McJoe Arroyo last time out though looking back its very clear hes washed up and should retire.
Sharone Carter
If Rau’shee Warren loses this fight I also think he should retire as if hes anywhere near his prime he should be able to use his skills and experience at the highest level to comfortably beat Carter who is a good domestic fighter in the USA. I don’t think Warren is completely washed yet so I expect him to win a decision.
This isn’t a bad fight though it’s one where I expect Robert Easter Jr to show hes still a contender and someone too look out for at 140 pounds. He’s a former world champion and has a few good wins to his name over the likes of Javier Fortuna and Richard Commey. Ryan Martin on the other hand hasn’t really beat anyone of note and in his one big fight versus Josh Taylor he got soundly beat and then tested positive for PED’s which clearly didn’t help him enough.
Ryan Martin
I think Robert Easter Jr will win a decision due to being technically better and also due to his experience and success at world level while Martin couldn’t compete at that level even while on PED’s which if he is now off them isn’t a good sign for his chances in this fight.
While this is a slight step up on paper for Zayas it’s actually one he should pass comfortably as Martin’s 6-1 record is flattering him.
James Martin
Xander Zayas should win this by knockout due to his body punching and simply having a lot more power than Martin who has scored zero knockouts and lost to a fighter who isn’t on Zayas level. He has also been knocked down and versus Zayas who is both technically good and has power that isn’t a good sign.
This is a good step for Elvis Rodriguez in his career and also the sort of opponent he should get used to as he already seems to be getting avoided by most fighters.
Elvis Rodriguez has great technically skills and has shown huge fight finishing power in all of his fights. He sets up his power punches really well and everything he does flows well. Even his defence is good as he doesn’t look for the knockout but rather lets it come while boxing naturally.
Luis Alberto Veron is a domestic fighter in Argentina and the two times hes left the country he has lost wide decisions.
Luis Alberto Veron
I think Elvis Rodriguez will win this fight by stoppage due to having a lot more power and being much better at setting his punches up along with almost everything else.
I really like this fight and its an excellent test for Falcao who has been moving very slowly throughout his career.
Falcao has some power and clearly a little technical ability though I find it suspicious that hes been moved so slowly and have a feeling hes not all that good. I also didn’t think he looked in the best shape at the weigh in. He hasn’t faced good competition at all and isn’t used to fighting a decent southpaw like himself.
Artur Akavov is decent technically and is a very awkward fighter who has been competitive with both Demetrius Andrade and Billy Joe Saunders. While he was stopped in the Andrade fight it was a terrible stoppage and I think he’ll be looking to show hes not someone to be used as a stepping stone in this fight. Both of the world champions he fought were southpaws and he fared well so he’s used to southpaw versus southpaw action.
Artur Akavov
I think Artur Akavov will win a decision due to having more experience in southpaw versus southpaw fights and also having fought the better competition. I also thought he looked good at the weigh in and will know this is his last big chance most likely.
This is a good step up for Flores Jr but unless he has a bad chin he should win this fight. Jayson Velez is coming off back to back losses and while he probably should have got the decision in one of them I think hes approaching the stage of his career where hes washed.
Jayson Velez
Gabriel Flores Jr is quick and is a good technical boxer who can box off the back foot with ease. I think Jayson Velez will look to push forward but will be too slow and will get picked off throughout the ten rounds though I expect him to chin check Flores Jr a few times especially late in the fight.
I think this is a very interesting fight and one where we’ll find out if Wallin’s performance versus Tyson Fury was an anomaly or not. I’ve never been overly impressed by Breazeale and feel hes had a fairly easy route to two title shots. Wallin would be his biggest win by far and is his third hardest opponent outside of the champions.
Dominic Breazeale
I think Otto Wallin’s movement and him being a southpaw is a stylistic nightmare for Breazeale who isn’t technically great alongside being flat footed. It’s a heavyweight fight and he has power so if he catches and stops Wallin I wouldn’t be surprised but otherwise I favor Wallin to win a decision.
Adrien Broner is finally returning to the sport and to be fair to him looks to be in decent shape. He’s an excellent fighter and has only lost to the very best so far in his career even while having out of the ring problems. Jovanie Santiago has fought no one of note and while hes undefeated hes just being used as a comeback opponent for Broner.
Jovanie Santiago
I think Broner will show there are levels to boxing and win a decision though if he isn’t rusty he has a chance at forcing a stoppage. He’s technically better and has shown power at a higher level than Santiago who is taking a huge leap up in competition.
This is the best fight of the weekend and one i’m immensely excited for. Both of these fighters are great to watch and this should be a war while it lasts.
Miguel Berchelt is the natural Super Featherweight and is big for the weight. He’s got a huge amount of power and throws massive amounts of punches. He’s like an unstoppable train that just keeps going until he breaks you down and that’s exactly how hes left most of his opponents, Broken. His defence like most big punchers isn’t great and its a guarantee he’ll get hit by any opponent but apart from his one loss where he was stopped his chin has held up fine versus big punchers. He seems to be in his prime and doesn’t look to have had any massive wear and tear yet. I thought he also looked in great shape at the weigh in and from watching interviews is massively up for this fight.
Miguel Berchelt
Oscar Valdez is probably what you would describe as the boxer of the two though that’s not saying much as hes known for getting into wars and scrapping with every opponent. He’s got an excellent left hook and has a speed advantage but is giving ground on almost everything else. He’s the smaller man with less power and has also shown he can be dropped by lesser punchers than Berchelt though has got up and won every fight. He’s got a huge amount of heart and doesn’t know how to lose yet as hes 28-0. Since hes teamed up with Eddy Reynoso hes changed his style to try and be more of a boxer and in my opinion has regressed as an effective fighter. I haven’t liked how hes looked in his two fights at Super Featherweight and in my opinion hes looked vulnerable at the weight.
Oscar Valdez
I think the fight will be competitive early on with both trading bombs but Berchelts heavier punches will start to have an effect and he’ll stop Valdez in round seven or eight after dropping him a few times. For Valdez to win hes going to have to hope Berchelt’s chin can’t hold up to his left hooks. I also think he needs to go to war as if he tries to box Berchelt will build momentum and roll him over.
This isn’t a bad fight but it’s one that shouldn’t be all that competitive if Jordan Gill has any chance of making it to world level. Cesar Juarez is a good fighter but he’s not a natural featherweight and is moving up a division after two grueling fights. He’s also had a long hard career and I thought after his last fight he may even retire even though hes only 29. Jordan Gill had become a fast rising contender in the featherweight division but was upset as a big favorite and blamed illness for the reason he was weak to the body. I thought he looked good in his last fight and comfortably boxed himself to a decision win even if he was a bit overly cautious.
Cesar Juarez
I think Jordan Gill will win a decision after boxing on the back foot and picking Juarez apart over the ten rounds. I think the move up in weight class isn’t a good move from Juarez and while hes a puncher I don’t think he’ll be able to catch Gill to stop him unless he was lying about being ill and was simply weak to the stomach.
