Oquendo despite not fighting since 2014 is still ranked by the WBA at heavyweight which seems completely insane. The reason he is still ranked is because legally he has the right for a world title shot. For one reason or another he still hasn’t gotten the money or his title shot as the WBA ordered Chagaev to fight someone else. They’ve kept him in the rankings so that once it all legally gets sorted out he can be given a title shot but it just shows how bad the WBA and sanctioning bodies in general are. Oquendo is now 47 and I do wonder that if he gets the money hes owed if he’ll even want to get a title shot at the regular version of the belt.
