William Warburton retires after 201 fights.

William Warburton one of the UK’s best journeymen retired on January 30th 2020 after picking up his 27th win out of 201 contests. His final record stands at 27-164-10 and in those 164 losses he was only stopped three times. Warburton was a familiar sight on the small halls and gave prospects a test week after week. He is a lot better than his record suggests but due to the business of boxing had to lose to prospects that he could have likely beat otherwise he wouldn’t have got more fights.

Warburton is a credit to the sport and fulfilled his role in boxing perfectly, very tough and durable and if a prospect wasn’t on their game he could turn it on and get the win as he did in his 201st bout. He decided to retire with a win and it does seem like perfect timing after reaching 200 fights in his previous bout.
